The United Nations Office at Geneva organized the first International Law Seminar in 1965 and continues to offer the Seminar on an annual basis to this day. The seminar was created for postgraduate students who are studying international law, as well as young scholars, lawyers in international law, and government officials. It is intended to broaden the knowledge the work of these individuals in international law, as well as to give an opportunity to candidates from different legal systems and cultures to exchange views and ideas regarding the programs of the Commission.

The International Law Seminar is only for candidates who have a sound knowledge of international law, either through their studies or professional experience. Twenty-five participants will be selected for the program, after which they will be expected to attend lectures by members of the commission or officials of the United Nations or related agencies.

To apply, candidates should submit a curriculum vitae that includes personal information as well as details about education obtained. A list of professional experiences and publications should also be supplied. A letter of motivation, between 400 and 800 words, should include a justification for engaging in the fellowship. Two letters of recommendation from official sources are also required.

The selection process will be carried out by a Selection Committee, which is comprised of two officials of the United Nations. All applications will be considered but decisions are final. Selected participants will attend the plenary meetings and lectures of the International law Commission and related speakers. They will also be invited to take part in active discussions following each lecture, producing as a final result short reports in working groups. These groups and lectures will be conducted in English, French, and Spanish.

Participation in the Seminar is free, but the United Nations cannot offer subsidies for any participant. A small number of fellowships may be available. All materials must be submitted no later than April 8, 2020. Applicants must be no younger than 24 and no older than 38 by January 1, 2020.

The European Parliament offers talented candidates the opportunity to apply for several traineeships within its Secretariat. These are designed to foster vocational training and to encourage knowledge acquisition about the goals and function of the European Parliament. Each term, 21,000 people apply for these traineeships, out of which 900 are selected.

Traineeships are awarded to qualified candidates for a period of five months. To be eligible, candidates should be eighteen or older and hold a university-level diploma. Candidates must also meet a language requirement and provide an eligible criminal record. Selected recipients will not have worked for more than two consecutive months within an EU institution or body, or have carried out a visiting academic position for six months or more prior to the start of the traineeship.

Several batches of applications and traineeships will be processed. The first traineeship takes place between October 1 and February 28, for which applications are due by Jun 30. For the March 1 to July 31 traineeship, applications will be received and processed by November 30. Applications that are submitted after these deadlines will not be considered.

To apply, candidates should register for an account online. Then, they should complete the online application form through their accounts. This form allows for the uploading of a CV (in Europass format), along with a motivation letter. This letter should be no longer than one page. Although several traineeship offers will be available, each candidate may only apply for up to three offers per campaign. Submission of copies of an ID or passport, university diploma, criminal record, and residency certificate must also be submitted.

In response to the current financial crisis in Europe, the European Central Bank has developed an integrative workshop on money markets, central bank balance sheets, and monetary policy implementation. This workshop brings together central bankers, academic experts, and actual practitioners to collaborate on reasons for and possible solutions to common issues. The workshop covers developments in money markets, central bank operational frameworks, and monetary policy implementation.

The program recognizes the way in which both secured and unsecured money markets have been impacted by financial and sovereign debt crises, as well as by regulatory reforms and other changes in finance, innovation, and infrastructure. Many banks, as a result of these crises, have resorted to non-standard measures of operation, such as negative interest rates and increased, easier access to liquidity.

Applicants to this program may submit applicants on a range of relevant topics. For example, they may choose to discuss the transmission of monetary policy through money markets, or engage in the effects of negative interest rates on money markets. Other common topics include the integral role of central bank collateral frameworks, along with the future outlook for money markets.

To apply, interested candidates should submit a paper with a topic of interest by June 30, 2018. These applications should include a clear statement of whether the candidate would like to discuss a paper. All accepted applicants will be notified by the end of July.

This year’s workshop begins on Tuesday, November 6 and ends on Wednesday, November 7. All program speakers will be reimbursed for travel and accommodation costs. The Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights launched the Minorities Fellowship Programme in 2005. This program is designed to give individuals who belong to national, ethnic, religious, or linguistic minorities the opportunity to gain experience in the UN system and mechanisms related to international human rights. This program, held annually, is offered in three different languages and lasts around five weeks.

Fellowships are based at the OHCHR in Geneva, Switzerland. This interactive program allows candidates to explore several topics related to human rights and minority rights, such as OHCHR work, the UN system, and human rights mechanisms. Fellows will engage in collaborative work as well as individual assignments. By the end of the program, all fellows will have the general knowledge of the United Nations system, with ample understanding that is necessary to pursue human rights activism.

In exchange for their participation, fellows will receive a return ticket (economy class) from their native countries to Geneva, a modest stipend to cover living expenses throughout the program, and health insurance.

Eligible candidates will belong to a minority group, regardless of whether that is national, linguistic, ethnic, or religious. Formal education is not necessary, but candidates should demonstrate previous experience or exceptional achievement in the field. They should have a good working knowledge of the language in which their desired program is offered, as well as the willingness to assist other minority groups throughout the duration of this program. All candidates must be sponsored and nominated by a minority organization or community.

The application must be submitted in its entirety, and should include a recommendation letter from the nominating organization. Each year, the Westerwelle Foundation hosts a conference in Berlin. This conference is known as the Young Founders Conference and is part of a fully funded, yearlong program to bring together gifted entrepreneurs from several developing and emerging economies. This year, the goal of the conference is to provide an opportunity for young founders to convene with each other and to interact with the German startup community.

Participants will have the ability to interact with other entrepreneurs, as well as potential investors and policy makers. The conference, which is held from October 16 to October 20, is just a small experience within this yearlong endeavor. Membership in the Westerwelle Young Founders Program provides participants with a mentoring program, as well as monthly mentoring calls with an experienced entrepreneur. Candidates will also receive special scholarship sand invitations to various entrepreneurship conferences, and become part of an international alumni network.

Young Founders will be between the ages of twenty and thirty-five years old, although those who are younger and older are also encouraged to apply. Candidates would be working in some sort of entrepreneurial pathway, but other individuals are encouraged to apply, including those working in a VC fund, incubator, or accelerator. However, funding will only be granted for entrepreneurs.

All expenses, including travel and accommodation for the conference, are covered by the Westerwelle Foundation. In exchange, all fellows are expected to participate in the conference, mentoring calls, and other planned activities to the fullest extent possible. Additional costs, such as travel insurance, visa costs, and personal expenses must be covered by the participants.

Applications are due no later than June 25, 2018. All candidates, whether selected or not, will be notified by July 9, with Skype interviews granted starting July 10. A final selection of candidates will take place August 10, with notification sent on August 13.

This year, the Global Youth Summit will be held from August 12-18 in Switzerland. This summit brings together a global cohort of young people interested in making a difference around the world. The program is designed to activate change in the most influential demographic of people around the globe.

Participants in this program will engage in a week of training sessions, workshops, and networking to help develop skills such as leadership, public relations, and project management. Sixty individuals will be selected and will receive full funding to attend the summit. Qualified applicants should be inspired, enthusiastic young activists, volunteers, campaigners, and entrepreneurs. All participants must be between eighteen and twenty-three years old at the time of the summit.

Scholarships for the summit cover round trip airfare, transport from Zurich to the summit venue, room, and board. Visas to enter Switzerland, personal expenses and insurance are not covered. All applicants must provide proof of insurance when they accept their spots at the summit.

To apply, interested candidates should complete an online application and submit a two-minute video detailing his or her plans to bring about positive change. This video must be recorded in English and updated to a public sharing site, such as YouTube. If YouTube is not accessible from the applicant’s country of origin, this video may be emailed to the decision team (just not as an attachment) or uploaded to a similar sharing site, such as Vimeo.

Applicants should also take the time to explain their activism, campaigning, or advocacy efforts, along with any other relevant details. Each year since 1961, the World Press Institute invites ten journalists from around the world to participate in a demanding, rigorous program of study, travel, and interviews throughout the United States. This program provides an in-depth immersion into the world of journalist ethics, culture, media, business, government, and politics within the United States. It is designed for experienced journalists from around the globe.

If accepted, fellows will spend three weeks in Minneapolis-St. Paul, Minnesota, and then spend time traveling to other American cities, including New York and Washington, D.C. for briefings, visits, and interviews. Through these experiences, WPI fellows will gain access to a broad range of individuals and experiences in the United States, with experiences and individuals ranging from world-renowned to ordinary.

The fellowship covers all related program costs, including round-trip transportation the United States and transportation with the United States during the program. Lodging costs as well as a daily per diem for food are provided. Personal expenses are the responsibility of the fellows.

To apply, interested applicants should submit a completed application along with supplemental materials that include a record of employment history and education, as well as two essays. The first essay should be no more than five hundred words and describe the applicant’s professional goals and achievements. The second essay should indicate why the applicant is seeking a WPI fellowship, what he or she expects to gain, and what he or she expects to contribute. A color photo of the applicant, work samples, copies of awards and fellowships, and three letters of recommendation should also be submitted.

Fellows are selected by the WPI selection committee, which is composed of like-minded journalists and corporate communications specialists, all of whom have international experience. The Leadership Academy for Women in Digital Media will return to the Poynter’s campus in St. Petersburg, Florida during the week of March 18-23, 2018. This program is open to twenty-eight qualified participants, and will focus on the skills and understandings necessary to be successful at the highest rankings of digital media leadership.

The program is structured to allow for open discussions and both peer-to-peer and peer-to-professional mentoring. Participants will leave the workshop with strong leadership skills and a powerful professional network. All attendees will also engage in one-on-one coaching and leadership skill creation sessions. Participants will also attend specific sessions on topics such as effective management styles, handling difficult situations, managing burnout, and negotiating.

Applicants will be selected who best represent need and diversity across race, geography, technology platforms, organizational size, and skillsets. Preference will be given to women who are currently working in digital media in a leadership capacity. Recognition will also be given to those who show a strong aptitude and potential for leadership, demonstrated through both current projects and professional references.

Tuition for the academy is free, although participants must provide all travel and accommodation costs. Some travel stipends are available, but these are competitive in nature and will not be awarded until the application process is complete.

Each applicant must submit an example of a digital project he or she has worked on, either in a group or individually. This could exist as a single story, a series of stories, an application, a website, or anything else that exists in the digital space. Digital projects may include anything the applicant has worked.

To apply, applicants should submit a record of previous work history, an example of a digital project created by the applicant, a short biography, reference letter, and personal photo. The World Bank invites qualified students to apply for the Winter Internship program. Applications are open until October 31, 2017. This internship allows motivated students the opportunity to improve their skills while working in a fast-paced, diverse setting.

Candidates must currently hold an undergraduate degree and be enrolled in a full-time graduate study program. This may be as a Master’s degree or PhD with plans to return to school full-time. Typically, successful applicants are those who have completed their first year of graduate studies, or are already enrolled in a PhD program.

Fluency in English is required, as is relevant work experience. Preference is given to candidates with computing skills and knowledge of languages such as French, Spanish, Russian, Arabic, Portuguese, and Chinese.

The internship is open to candidates studying within the fields of economics, finance, human development (public health, education, nutrition, population), social science (anthropology, sociology), agriculture, environment, private sector development, and several others. The internship provides an hourly salary, along with an applicable allowance towards travel expenses.

Interns must arrange and finance their own living arrangements in the city of the internship. Most positions will be held in Washington, D.C, though some are held in partnering locations. All are at least four weeks long. The internship is offered during the summer (June-September), as well as the winter (December-March). The latter period is now accepting applications.

All materials must be submitted online. In addition to an online application, students must submit a curriculum vitae (CV), statement of interest, and proof of enrollment in a graduate degree.
