The Gates Cambridge Scholarship program was founded in 2000 through a generous donation from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. This program, the largest ever donation to a UK university, awards scholarships to students from over 100 countries and has over 1,000 alumni around the world.

These scholarships are granted to exceptional applicants from countries outside of the UK so that they can pursue postgraduate study in any subject at the University of Cambridge. Scholars should have outstanding intellectual ability and strong leadership potential, as well as a commitment to bettering the lives of others. Applicants should also demonstrate a strong fit between the applicant’s qualifications and goals with the program of study for which they are applying.

To be eligible, candidates must be from any country besides the United Kingdom and have applied for full-time study at the University of Cambridge in a PhD, MSc or MLitt, or one year postgraduate course (such as an MPhil, LLM, MASt, MBA, etc). Current students are also eligible to apply if they are applying for new postgraduate courses. Individuals who are planning on enrolling in a BA, MBBChir Clinical Studies degree, MD Doctor of Medicine degree, part-time degree, or non-degree bearing course are not eligible to apply.

US citizens should apply by October 12, 2022 for the 2023 year. All other applicants should apply by either December 1, 2022 or January 5, 2023 (depending on the intended course of study). Each applicant will be departmentally ranked in October through February (this is done in two rounds) and shortlisted between December and March. Interview will be conducted in late January and late March, with scholarships offered in the next few weeks following those dates. Selected candidates will have forty-eight hours to accept the scholarship award.

More information may be found at http:///www.gatescambridge.org.

Stanford University’s Bechtel International Center invites students to apply for the prestigious Churchill Scholarship.

The Churchill Scholarship provides funding to American students for a year of Master’s study at the University of Cambridge, Churchill College. The program was created by an initiative of Sir Winston Churchill to support his vision of US – UK scientific exchange for advancing science and technology on both sides of the Atlantic.

This award is open to U.S citizens who will be between the ages of 19 and 26 when the program begins. Candidates must be recent graduates (within the past year) or seniors at Stanford, and they must first be nominated by an authority at Stanford University.

This award has an on-campus process necessitating a nomination. Therefore, there are two deadlines that all applicants should be aware of – a universal deadline and a campus deadline. The university can nominate two candidates for the selection process. The campus deadline is in October while the universal deadline is in November. Applying is a lengthy ordeal and may require several months to prepare for. In order to be eligible, candidates must have already applied for admissions at a graduate program at University of Cambridge and Churchill College.

To apply, interested candidates should submit a University of Cambridge application form. This can be found on the Cambridge website. The online scholarship application must also be completed by October 15. This, too, is available online. Applicants must supply four recommendation letters and a cover form by October 15.

The rest of the required documents should be emailed directly to Diane Murk at dmurk@stanford.edu by October 15. Required documents include a Stanford Churchill Cover Sheet, a nomination form waiver, and a PDF copy of the application.

With the application, candidates should also submit a proposed program of study, detailed in a one-page essay. A two-page personal statement is also required, as is a record of correspondence with the Cambridge laboratory supervisor. This may be done via email but it should indicate a confirmation that the student will be accepted into the laboratory. All candidates must also supply official transcripts, both those from university study at Stanford as well as those from any summer program, study abroad programs, or previous institutions.

There will be fourteen awards granted, each ranging between $45,000 and $50,000. The scholarship covers all college and university fees and tuition. It also includes a generous stipend for a living allowance, research allowance, travel allowance, and any application fees for a U.K. visa.

The Centre of African Studies at the University of Cambridge announces the availability of two Visiting Research Fellowships for candidates of all disciplines in the humanities and social sciences. This award is designed to enable a fellow to focus on a period of research and writing in his or her field while working at Cambridge.

The selected fellows will come to the University to work on a project that builds on existing research. New research projects are allowed, so long as they can substantially advance by the end of the duration of the fellowship. Preference is given to early- and mid-career researchers who have an exceptional research portfolio. Residents must be permanent residents of African countries, with appointments lasting from October 1, 2019 until March 31, 2020.

Fellowships are non-renewable, with fellows being granted access to all holdings of Faculty and Departmental libraries. Fellows will also have access to the library of the Centre of African Studies and the University Library, which includes a broad collection of materials relating to Commonwealth History.

To apply, aspiring fellows must present a feasible and clear research plan, which should aim to produce one or more pieces of work for publication. All documents must be submitted in English, with materials sent via application to the Centre of African Studies at the University of Cambridge. Applications will include a copy of the applicant’s curriculum vitae (which should include details of publications), project details, a photocopy of a PhD certificate and passport, and two references sent directly by referees.

Each recipient will be awarded £17,000, which will cover college accommodations, travel expenses, visa fees, and maintenance costs. All applications must be received no later than February 1, 2019. Questions may be directed to centre@african.cam.ac.uk. Application materials may be obtained from this address as well.

Such Fellowships are available to those who have already accepted or plan to accept a paid, postdoctoral position in the University of Cambridge.

All applications should be submitted via the electronic application system by midday (British Summer Time) on September 7th, 2018.
The University of Cambridge invites talented designers to apply for one of three Design Fellowships in the Department of Architecture. These fellowships are available for 12 months, running from October 1, 2018 until September 30, 2019 and are renewable annually.

The fellowships are part-time, funding roughly 26% of full-time hours per week. The posts are offered so that candidates may teach architectural design on the three-year undergraduate BA course, Architecture Tripos. This course leads to RIBA/ARB Part I qualification.

The three fellowships available have slightly different roles and conditions. The first fellowship is to teach in a Second Year Studio with an existing, more experienced fellow. The position is rotating and can be renewed under some conditions. Two other fellowships are limited to a fixed term of one year to provide coverage during the absence of other staff members.

Each fellow will be part of a team of sixteen studio teachers who teach undergraduate architecture courses. Fellows will develop and deliver weekly group tutorials and one-on-one supervisions, and also help to develop studio projects in conjunction with the undergraduate Studio Teaching Coordinator and Year Coordinators.

Applications are expected to have a first degree or equivalent in Architecture, Engineering, or similar discipline. They should also have exemption from Part I of the Royal Institute of British Architects or equivalent examinations, along with a postgraduate Diploma. Candidates should either have a qualification carrying exemption from Part II of the RIBA examinations or a MSc, MArch, or MPhil. Successful applicants will be qualified, registered architects who have experience and current employment as practice-based architects.

Selected fellows will work in central Cambridge. Applicants should log on to the University of Cambridge Web Recruitment System, where they may create an account and fill out an online application form. A cover letter, Curriculum Vitae, and list of references must also be supplied. Portfolios should be no longer than thirty pages.

All materials must be submitted by July 10, 2018. For more information about the application process or the fellowship program, candidates should contact Julia Pettman at julia.pettman@aha.cam.ac.uk.

Outstanding scholars are invited to apply for the prestigious graduate applicant scholarships at Jesus College. These scholarships support graduate study based at the college for students from the UK and EU, as well as international students. Various awards will be granted based on the area of study.

Humanities and Social Science students are eligible for the Albert Goh and Elizabeth Coupe Scholarship. This award is granted to a one-year Masters applicant in the Humanities or Social Sciences. It is given in the amount of £4000.

Specifically, History students may apply for the Gurnee Hart Scholarship. This award grants up to £5,000 for a one year course, and, again, is available only for students beginning a one-year Masters in History or historical studies.

The Embiricos Trust Scholarship grants up to £13,500 per academic year a maximum of three years to a first-year PhD applicant in Physical Science, Engineering, or Mathematics. Applicants for this award must be of Greek, G reek Cypriot, or British descent and nationality.

The John Killen Scholarship is awarded to one year Masters applicants in the Classics. Preference is given to applicants who are focusing their studies in the epigraphy and interpretation of Linear B, comparative philology, or the archaeology of Greece in the second millennium BC.

Applicants for these awards must have already worked out and guaranteed alternative funding for every year of study. In addition to these scholarships, a Graduate Research Fund is also available. This fund helps with the cost of attending conferences and research visits. However, this must be directly applied for. Graduate students may not undertake external paid work, but there are opportunities to work on a temporary and part time basis (up to ten hours a week).

All applications must be submitted by March 27, 2018. Questions, further information, and applications may be directed to graduate-tutor@jesus.cam.ac.uk.

Cambridge University announces the availability of the Boustany MBA Cambridge Scholarship. This award allows recipients to become members of the exclusive Pembroke College, which is a highly regarded and the third oldest college.

The Boustany Scholarship is awarded once every two years for the duration of a one-year program at Cambridge University, Judge Business School. It provides recipients with financial aid amounting to £23,000 to go towards tuition and fees, as well as full travel and accommodation expenses. As an exchange for receipt of the scholarship, students will complete a two month-unpaid internship with the Boustany Foundation. Although project subjects will vary in nature, all are related to the Boustany Foundation’s activities or those of its partner organizations. Any travel expenses related to the internship are fully covered by the scholarship.

This award will be granted for the class beginning in the Autumn of 2018. Candidates must show excellent promise in their field and have a strong, rigorous academic background. Priority is given to students of Lebanese descent, though students of all nationalities will be considered.

Students may only apply after being accepted for admission into the Cambridge MBA program. The MBA program covers the range of general management issues related to modern business practices. It also provides students with essential coursework in business essentials and special interest areas. Students will complete a variety of projects, electives, and hands-on experiences (such as internships) to develop their business acumen.

Applicants should submit a CV with a photograph, GMAT scores, and an acceptance letter from Cambridge University. All materials should be sent to admissions@boustany-foundation.org by May 15th, 2018. Questions and concerns about the application process can also be directed to that email. Successful applicants may be shortlisted and invited to interview with foundation members. Following this interview, one candidate will ultimately be awarded the scholarship (no later than June 2018).
