The Gates Cambridge Scholarship program was founded in 2000 through a generous donation from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. This program, the largest ever donation to a UK university, awards scholarships to students from over 100 countries and has over 1,000 alumni around the world.

These scholarships are granted to exceptional applicants from countries outside of the UK so that they can pursue postgraduate study in any subject at the University of Cambridge. Scholars should have outstanding intellectual ability and strong leadership potential, as well as a commitment to bettering the lives of others. Applicants should also demonstrate a strong fit between the applicant’s qualifications and goals with the program of study for which they are applying.

To be eligible, candidates must be from any country besides the United Kingdom and have applied for full-time study at the University of Cambridge in a PhD, MSc or MLitt, or one year postgraduate course (such as an MPhil, LLM, MASt, MBA, etc). Current students are also eligible to apply if they are applying for new postgraduate courses. Individuals who are planning on enrolling in a BA, MBBChir Clinical Studies degree, MD Doctor of Medicine degree, part-time degree, or non-degree bearing course are not eligible to apply.

US citizens should apply by October 12, 2022 for the 2023 year. All other applicants should apply by either December 1, 2022 or January 5, 2023 (depending on the intended course of study). Each applicant will be departmentally ranked in October through February (this is done in two rounds) and shortlisted between December and March. Interview will be conducted in late January and late March, with scholarships offered in the next few weeks following those dates. Selected candidates will have forty-eight hours to accept the scholarship award.

Hosting at the Stanford University Center for Russian, East European, and Eurasian Studies, the Wayne Vucinich Fellowship is designed for self-motivated fellows seeking to pursue independent research in residency. This fellowship is geared toward scholars whose research focuses on historical or contemporary topics in Russia, the Caucasus, East Europe, or Central Asia.

To be eligible, candidates should have received a PhD within the past five years. All must have a degree in hand at the time the residency begins. Scholars who are residents of countries that fall under the purview of the Center will be given preference. Fellows will have access to all Stanford University Libraries and the Hoover Institution Library and Archives. They will also be granted access to one of the most distinguished communities of scholars at Stanford, and will be expected to hold a workshop, seminar, or lecture on his or her independent research.

In return, fellows will receive all international travel, health insurance, and visa expenses. Each candidate will also receive a $12,000 stipend for living expenses and access to a shared work space.

All applications must be received no later than November 1, 2018. The fellowship may be undertaken during any twelve-week period between January 15 and June 15, 2019.

Applications for the FINCAD’s Women in Finance Scholarship are now open and will be accepted until June 30, 2018. FINCAD was initially developed in 1990 by two men with a vision of making investment information available, accurate, and transparent to clients.

The scholarship program is designed to help women transition into the fast-paced world of finance, as a majority of the industry’s current practitioners are men. The goal of this scholarship is to provide women with the support necessary to succeed in finance, especially regarding the use of derivatives in capital markets and financial risk management.

The scholarship is open to female practitioners of any age who are studying Finance at an accredited post-graduate program. The award is granted in the amount of USD 10,000 to help support women as they embark on graduate-level studies.

Female citizens of all countries are encouraged to apply. Successful candidates will be enrolled in a post-graduate program at a nationally or internationally accredited university, and planning to attend on a full-time basis for the 2018-2019 academic year. All materials, including supporting documents, must be in English. University transcripts may be in the applicant’s native language.

Applicants will also be asked to submit a resume or CV, as well as two letters of recommendation for the scholarship from individuals who know the candidate well, such as professors, university staff, employers, or colleagues. Offering six courses over two sessions, along with an extensive and stimulating social program, the Imperial College Business School’s Summer School is an excellent opportunity for students to experience life in London. The Summer School program provides academic credit and serves as a great boost for a resume or CV. Two sessions are available, with the first beginning on July 2 and ending on July 20. Available courses in this session include Accounting for Decision Makers, Entrepreneurial Smart Camp, and Principles of Finance. Each program of study exposes students to a diversity of mindsets, opinions, and experiences.

These courses are open to any current undergraduates or postgraduates, provided that they have less than five years’ work experience. Applicants must be either studying towards or already have been awarded a degree. Most accepted applicants will have high grades, achieving an Upper Second Class Honours degree or the equivalent. The Norman Hargreaves-Mawdsley Scholarship is now open for qualified Humanities graduate students specializing in topics such as Spanish, Latin American, or European History. This scholarship is only eligible for the previously listed areas of study. Two awards will be granted to individuals studying general European History, while one will be provided to an individual studying Spanish or Latin American History.

This scholarship was endowed by the family of Professor Norman Hargreaves Mawdsley upon his death. The professor was a renowned British historian who specialized in eighteenth-century Spanish and European history. This generous ward honors like-minded individuals.

The award is open to all postgraduate taught and research degrees, and will provide financial assistance for all course and college fees. It also provides a stipend, which is developed based on the UK Research Council rate. Course fees and living expenses will be awarded for full-time students in the amount of at least £14,553, while part-time students will receive a prorated study support grant instead.

Applicants are welcome from any country. The scholarship may be awarded as an individual award, or through partnership with the Research Council or Clarendon funding.

There is no individual application process for this award. All applicants, whether internal or external, should apply to the University of Oxford for the 2018-2019 graduate degree program. All applications should be submitted by January. Applicants will be evaluated for scholarship qualification when the team is reviewing admissions applications.

If two or more equally qualified candidates happen to be the final two in the running, the team will give priority to the candidate who has listed Wolfson as his or her first college of choice. The TORCH Oxford University Medieval Studies Program invites postgraduate students to apply for small grants. These grants support conferences, workshops, and other team-based research at the postgraduate or early career level. This is open to any participants from across the Humanities division at the University of Oxford.

Grants will be given In the amount of a few hundred pounds each, with a maximum award of £500. The research should take place any time between November 2017 and April 2018. All applications must be received, as a result no later than October 2017.

As a culmination of the program, recipients must submit a report of their findings to be posted on the TORCH Medieval Studies blog. Applicants are responsible for all administrative duties, including formulating the theme and intellectual rational. They must also devise the format of the activity and invite speakers or issue a call for papers (if necessary). Finally, they will be responsible for managing the budget, arranging schedules, promoting, and advertising. Although these responsibilities rest solely on the applicant, some administrative support may be available from TORCH.

This program is designed to bring together over 200 scholars within multiple career stages across the university. Oxford Medieval Studies is one of the largest forums in the world for interdisciplinary humanities scholarship on the Middle Ages. The program builds upon the University’s existing powerhouse programs in medieval studies in various disciplines, including Archaeology, Music, Philosophy, Theology, and Religion. This program gathers experts from all stages and disciplines to work collaboratively in areas of mutual beneficial interest.

Science International Scholarships are available for exceptional international students engaged in scientific coursework at the University of Queensland.

The award is offered in the amount of $3,000 AU or $10,000 AU. Applications opened on June 1, 2017 and close January 15, 2018.

To be eligible, applicants must be classified as international students in Australia. They should have unconditional or conditional offers of admission by the University of Queensland. Undergraduate students should have completed senior year of high school and obtained an entry score that equates to a Queensland Tertiary Education rank of 96 or higher. Postgraduate students should have completed an undergraduate degree and obtained a GPA of 6 or higher on a 7 point scale.

Applicants must not have already begun studies at UQ, even if seeking a change of program. They must also not hold another scholarship.

Two different scholarships are available. The Full Degree Scholarship is designed to students who intend to enroll in year one of a University of Queensland Faculty of Science full degree program. These students may receive up to $10,000 AU. The second scholarship is known as the Advanced Standing Scholarship. This is awarded to students enrolling in a University of Queensland Faculty of Science program with advanced standing. This award is eligible for up to $3,000 AU.

For full degree scholarships, international students should be enrolling in year one of a UQ Faculty of Science full degree program. For Advanced Standing Scholarships, students should be international students enrolling in a UQ Faculty of Science program with advanced standing.

Applications will be evaluated based on the candidate’s academic performance as demonstrated by the GPA. They will also be considered based on their potential to contribute to science and their personal statements.

To apply, students should complete an undergraduate or postgraduate application for entry into one of the eligible science programs. They must receive a UQ student ID number and an unconditional offer of admission (or conditional, with conditions met by the deadline). The government of the United Kingdom regularly offers the Chevening Scholarship, an opportunity for future world leaders to develop professionally and academically. This award is funded by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and other partnering organizations. In addition to Chevening Scholarships, Fellowships are also available. Recipients of both types of awards will be personally selected by British embassies and related commissions.

Applications are open between August 7 and November 7. To apply, applicants must supply proof of English language proficiency, coursework, references, work experience, and an additional online application. Required official documentation includes a valid passport or ID card, university transcripts and degree certificates, and three U.K. master’s course choices. By July 12, 2018, all applicants must also submit English language test results and a U.K. master’s university offer.

To be eligible, applicants must be citizens of Chevening-eligible countries. A minimum of two years after the award has ended, students must also return to their original countries of citizenships. Applicants must also hold an undergraduate degree that will enable them to enter into a postgraduate program at a U.K. university. Ideal candidates will also have at least two years’ work experience and have received an offer of admission to three different eligible U.K. university courses.

Individuals who hold British or dual British citizenship may not apply. Additionally, employees of any government or partnering organization may not apply, unless they do not receive an award from the organization for which they work. Students may also have not studied in the United Kingdom with funding from a U.K. government-funded scholarship.

Once applications are submitted, each one will undergo an electronic sift to ensure it meets all eligibility criteria. It is not possible to change or retract a submitted application. If an applicant is selected for an interview, he or she must submit two complete references no later than February 26, 2018.

The Australian Research Council invites applicants to its exclusive Australian Laureate Fellowship program. This program serves as a representation of the commitment to support excellence in research. The program is open to applicants who are researchers of international recognition.

The program hopes to drive world-class researchers to influential positions, and to incentivize them to apply their talents to areas of need in Australia. The proposal provides funding for relevant research, along with a salary stipend and related financial support.

The program supports excellent, groundbreaking research in an excellent research training environment. Fellows will be provided with top-notch mentorship in order to develop career and research skills. The program will also help fellows create networks among researchers and to enhance the overall scale and focus of research in the sciences. The overarching goal of this program is to expand Australia’s abilities in research and overall knowledge.

Seventeen fellowships will be awarded each year, awarding a salary stipend in addition to a Level E professorial salary. This professorial salary is provided by the Administering Organization. Funding will also be provided for two postdoctoral research associates (for up to five years) and two postgraduate researchers (for up to four years). Fellowship recipients will also receive up to $300,000 in project funding per year.

Project funding may be used for a variety of purposes, including: personnel, research associates and assistance, technicians, access to research facilities, technical services, field research, expert third party services, equipment and consumables, publication, technology resources, focus groups and conferences, travel costs, and web hosting. Other costs may be provided if reasonable.

The fellowship gives priority to exceptional female researchers. This is done in order to promote women in research and mentor early researchers. Preference is also given to researchers who will play a sustained leadership role in Australia’s research system.

Two Australian Laureate Fellowships will be awarded to female Australian Laureate Fellows for funding beginning in 2018. A Kathleen Fitzpatrick Australian Laureate Fellowship will be awarded specifically to a highly ranked female applicant from the realm of humanities, arts and social science disciplines. A Georgina Sweet Australian Laureate Fellowship will be awarded to a female from the science and technology field.

Funding rules were announced on September 1, 2017, with proposals accepted as soon as September 28, 2017. The Institute for Comparative Federalism of Eurac Research, the Faculty of Law and the School of Political Science and Sociology of the University of Innsbruck announces a new common cross-border project. This program, called The Winter School on Federalism and Governance, was initially created in 2010, but has undergone multiple revisions. It takes place under the Secretary General of the Council of Europe.

This school analyzes the interaction of federalism, regionalism, and multilevel governance from both political and legal perspectives. Each edition of the program allows students to focus on specific topics from the detailed approach of scholars, practitioners, and political scientists.

Students will examine the success and risk factors of multilevel governance systems through a wide range of case studies regarding the European Union, multinational states, and Eastern Europe. Students will study different policy fields such as financial relations and environmental policies.

The Institute for Comparative Federalism conducts comparative legal studies and applied research on governance in Europe and throughout the rest of the world. It is a component of Eurac Research, which conducts innovative research and training in Italy.

The next edition of the Winter School will be held from February 5th to 16th, 2018, and focuses on federalism in the making. It will be held in Innsbruck Austria, and Bolzano, Italy. Innsbruck is well known for Alpine scenery and architectural heritage. Students will enjoy a bustling university town and many winter sports. Bolzano is rich in culture and heritage, as well as architecture. Students will spend the two weeks of the winter school in lectures and discussion sessions, workshops, and study visits. They will be given multiple opportunities for discussion with leading experts on multilevel governance.

All international students, whether young researchers, academics, post-doctoral and post-graduate students, or civil servants, are invited to apply.
