The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation is actively seeking potential leaders who are interested in developing their own project ideas and embarking on the experience of a lifetime. The German Chancellor Fellowship is open to students from India, Russia, China, and the United States, and allows scholars to work closely with hosts of their own choosing to build unique projects.

The fellowship features a monthly stipend ranging from 2,170 euros to 2,770 euros, depending on qualifications. It includes attentive individual mentoring during the fellow’s stay in Germany, as well as financial support for family members, travel expenses, and German language study. The fellowship also features cultural study tours of Germany as well as social networking events with representatives from German companies and institutions. Fellows are given the resources to make connections with alumni of the program as well, helping them to collaborate and gain professional experiences.

The fellowship exposes candidates to contemporary issues in their individual fields of study, allowing them to make long-term public impacts. Fellows are expected to expand their knowledge in their topic area while working in Germany, as well as to gain experiences in intercultural skills. Once the fellowship has ended, fellows will act as intermediaries between Germany and their host countries.

The program commences in August in Germany with a significant two-month German language course. Reductions or extensions of this course can be granted if necessary. In October, fellows then move on to a seminar in Bonn and then Berlin. These seminars provide fellows with the training and insights necessary in social, political, economic, and cultural life in Germany. After this period, fellows then work on their individual projects for eleven months.

Eligible candidates are those who completed a first degree less than twelve years ago and are interested in spending a year working on self-designed projects. Applicants should be able to demonstrate that their projects are of social significance. They should also indicate how the project has potential to make connections between Germany and the applicant’s host country. Applicants from the political, economic, media, administration, and cultural sectors are encouraged and invited to apply.

In addition to evidence of a degree completed no more than twelve years ago, fellows must also submit documentation evincing proven leadership experience, as well as a two-page letter of motivation and a three-page project plan. Two references and a host statement must also be supplied. All application materials must be received no later than October 15, 2022.

Each year, Harvard University aims to attract and support rising young talent. Junior Scholars often find it difficult to gain access to prestigious universities, usually after they have just received their doctorates. They suffer from limited funding and issues related to curriculum development, which makes it tough to gain leverage in their academic careers.

As a result, the university offers an exceptional opportunity to provide funding to these individuals to carry out their research at Harvard University. The grants address scholars who have recently received their doctorate degrees, allowing them to strengthen their connections with others in the field and to promote the connection between their home universities and Harvard. These fellowships also allow these candidates to gain additional or new skills in their field.

The program is designed for candidates who have recently received their Ph.D. with honors, with most fields of study accepted for the program. Candidates who have backgrounds in sciences, law, humanities, public health, medicine, economy, political science, sociology, engineering, education, architecture, or any other field of study available at Harvard are eligible to apply.

To be eligible, individuals must have completed their Ph.D. at any of the RCC member universities between May 1, 2019, and April 30, 2020, and have graduated with the highest academic distinction. They should provide an admission letter from the Harvard University department, research center, or school stating that they are supporting the applicant’s research project and/or sponsoring their J-1 Visa. They should provide a valid TOEFL iBT with a minimum score of 100 points.

To apply, candidates should visit the Harvard University website and fill out and submit the online application form. They will need to provide a certificate of having been granting a PhD, along with certificate of having enjoyed an Autonomous Community PhD program, FPU, FPI, or University PhD program scholarship. A detailed curriculum vitae and copy of an admission letter from the Harvard research center, school, or department supporting the research project should also be supplied.

Finally, a detailed research proposal for the project that will be carried out during the tenure at Harvard, in more than ten pages, must also be supplied. All materials are due no later than June 30, at 11:59 p.m.

The World Trade Institute at the University of Bern is now accepting applications for the 2018-2019 Master of International Law and Economics. This program is ideal for students with backgrounds in law, economics, or political science.

A minimum of an undergraduate degree is required. While the previously listed majors are ideal, candidates with backgrounds in other fields are also encouraged to apply. Experience in the field of international trade, or a related major, gives a candidate preferential consideration over others in the decision making process.

This program requires regular course attendance between September until June, with the master’s thesis researched and written over the summer. It can also be pursued on a part-time basis over three years. The program begins with a foundational semester in which courses are taken in public international law, international economic law, and other basic courses. Then, students progress to more in-depth analysis of relevant topics. Regular course attendance is required from September until the end of June, with the master’s thesis being researched and written over the summer. The program can also be taken on a part-time basis within three years.

The program is taught entirely in English, with the necessity of participants to be able to express themselves effectively in and outside of the classroom, deliver weekly writing assignments, and read up to two hundred pages a week. Students may be asked to submit English proficiency test scores, with minimum TOEFL ibT scores of 100 or above, or TOEFL paper scores of 600 or above. Native English speakers to not need to submit test scores if their degree was completed at an institution in the USA, Canada, the UK, Australia, or New Zealand, as long as the degree was awarded no more than five years ago.

Regardless of the language requirement, all students must submit a two-page essay in English. The university also requires tuition for one year of study, which is 21,000 Swiss francs for both full and part-time studies. Scholarships are available upon request. This tuition payment covers all course fees, master’s thesis supervision, extracurricular activities, and several trips to Geneva. Other travel costs, lodging, health insurance, or expenses are not covered by this payment. There is no separate application fee.

All applications must be received no later than January 31, 2018. Completed applications may be sent by mail or email to World Trade Institute, University of Bern, Hallerstrasse 6, 3012 Bern, Switzerland, with the subject line: Admission to the Master of International Law and Economics.

Students are invited regardless of nationality, race, gender, or religion. However, students should have sufficient proficiency in English to understand PhD-level material.

Students should have a strong background in mathematics. Previous education in economics is encouraged, but not required. Students should submit an online application or deliver it in paper form. Additional materials must be submitted as well. These materials include a curriculum vitae, a statement of motivation, copies of bachelor and Master diplomas and transcripts, and two letters of recommendation.

The statement of motivation should be between one thousand and two thousand words, and address the academic and research background of the candidate, along with relevant interests and career goals. It should also state specific ways in which the program will help meet the candidate’s objectives. Other relevant documents may be submitted as well, including additional study records, certificates, and TOEFL scores.

Although there is no application fee, all materials must be received by March 31, with no exceptions. The Admissions Committee will notify each candidate when his or her application is complete.
The UEFA, or the Union of European Football Associates, contains fifty-five members associations seeking to develop their own research activities and projects in the analysis of European football. The organization’s research grant program was designed to support the work of qualified researchers who are either studying for or currently hold a PhD and are interested in analyzing European football.

Within the last few years, the UEFA has attempted to engage with the academic community by offering a series of initiatives to benefit both UEFA and European football. Their efforts comprise three pillars, including research, personal development, and change. The research pillar is designated to support projects directly addressing issues within European football. It is also designed to commission academic experts and centers to conduct specific, goal-oriented studies on behalf of UEFA.

To apply, all applicants must submit a letter of recommendation from a representative of a UEFA member association that supports the research being proposed. This letter is designed to ensure that all projects are developed for and in conjunction with the national associations. Projects will also have the highest practical value possible.

In an effort to boost cooperation between member associations and European universities, the UEFA also allows three or fewer researchers to submit joint applications. These researchers should be based in the territories of three different national associations.

Each individual project is eligible for a grant of up to €15,000, and each joint project is eligible for up to €20,000. This funding lasts for up to nine months of research. Proposals may be submitted in Economics, History, Law, Management, Medical science, Political science, and Sociology.

Applications must be received by March 31, 2018. Questions about the program may be directed to universities@uefa.ch.
