The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation is actively seeking potential leaders who are interested in developing their own project ideas and embarking on the experience of a lifetime. The German Chancellor Fellowship is open to students from India, Russia, China, and the United States, and allows scholars to work closely with hosts of their own choosing to build unique projects.

The fellowship features a monthly stipend ranging from 2,170 euros to 2,770 euros, depending on qualifications. It includes attentive individual mentoring during the fellow’s stay in Germany, as well as financial support for family members, travel expenses, and German language study. The fellowship also features cultural study tours of Germany as well as social networking events with representatives from German companies and institutions. Fellows are given the resources to make connections with alumni of the program as well, helping them to collaborate and gain professional experiences.

The fellowship exposes candidates to contemporary issues in their individual fields of study, allowing them to make long-term public impacts. Fellows are expected to expand their knowledge in their topic area while working in Germany, as well as to gain experiences in intercultural skills. Once the fellowship has ended, fellows will act as intermediaries between Germany and their host countries.

The program commences in August in Germany with a significant two-month German language course. Reductions or extensions of this course can be granted if necessary. In October, fellows then move on to a seminar in Bonn and then Berlin. These seminars provide fellows with the training and insights necessary in social, political, economic, and cultural life in Germany. After this period, fellows then work on their individual projects for eleven months.

Eligible candidates are those who completed a first degree less than twelve years ago and are interested in spending a year working on self-designed projects. Applicants should be able to demonstrate that their projects are of social significance. They should also indicate how the project has potential to make connections between Germany and the applicant’s host country. Applicants from the political, economic, media, administration, and cultural sectors are encouraged and invited to apply.

In addition to evidence of a degree completed no more than twelve years ago, fellows must also submit documentation evincing proven leadership experience, as well as a two-page letter of motivation and a three-page project plan. Two references and a host statement must also be supplied. All application materials must be received no later than October 15, 2022.

There is no deadline for these fellowships, which are intended for researchers with excellent track records. Applications can be submitted throughout the entire year, but applications submitted between January 1 and May 31 will be evaluated in the October/November panel. Those submitted between June 1 and December 31 will be evaluated in the April/May panel.

Individuals are eligible to apply if they are within five years from their PhD at the time of application. They should have already proved their ability to work successfully as independent researchers, with those who have two PhDs needing to have at least one relevant to the research field.

Those who have work contracts with the University of Bucharest are not eligible, while those who have permanent positions in other institutions must provide a written agreement from the institution stating their endorsement of the candidate’s research activity as an ICUB fellow.

Scholars from all disciplines and nationalities may apply for this fellowship, which awards a stipend of 2500 lei per month. Awards may also include travel expenses and a living allowance. In return, fellows will be considered full members of the institute, and allowed to use the institute’s resources and infrastructure as such. Fellows will receive logistical support in applying for other grants and research programs, but will also be expected to organize scientific events.

Applications can be submitted at any time, with the peer-review evaluation taking about three months after submission. To apply, interested candidates should submit an application form, a CV and list of publications, a writing sample, a certification of the PhD defense, and information for references. Each applicant should supply the name, email address, and phone number of three separate professors who can attest to the referees work.

Candidates must also submit the research project in a maximum of five pages. Research projects involving any laboratory or experimental work should also include a preliminary agreement on behalf of the laboratory head.
Each year, Harvard University aims to attract and support rising young talent. Junior Scholars often find it difficult to gain access to prestigious universities, usually after they have just received their doctorates. They suffer from limited funding and issues related to curriculum development, which makes it tough to gain leverage in their academic careers.

As a result, the university offers an exceptional opportunity to provide funding to these individuals to carry out their research at Harvard University. The grants address scholars who have recently received their doctorate degrees, allowing them to strengthen their connections with others in the field and to promote the connection between their home universities and Harvard. These fellowships also allow these candidates to gain additional or new skills in their field.

The program is designed for candidates who have recently received their Ph.D. with honors, with most fields of study accepted for the program. Candidates who have backgrounds in sciences, law, humanities, public health, medicine, economy, political science, sociology, engineering, education, architecture, or any other field of study available at Harvard are eligible to apply.

To be eligible, individuals must have completed their Ph.D. at any of the RCC member universities between May 1, 2019, and April 30, 2020, and have graduated with the highest academic distinction.
Each year, the College of Charleston’s Pearlstine/Lipov Center for Southern Jewish Culture invites qualified applicants to apply to the research fellowship program. This fellowship provides awards of up to $500 per week and, in some cases, also includes a housing allowance.

To be eligible, candidates should be engaged in projects of scholarship: art, or public history. These projects must in some way benefit from research at Charleston, with preference given to individuals attending from out of state. Candidates who intend to make use of materials from the Jewish Heritage Collection, housed at the College of Charleston’s Addlestone Library, will also be given preference.

Award recipients may be from a myriad of fields, including those who are graduate students, independent scholars, senior scholars, artists, filmmakers, journalists, or even exhibition curators. The library is home to dozens of Congregational and Organizational Records, including Brith Shalom Beth Israel, Temple Sinai, the Hebrew Orphan Society, and the Southern Jewish Historical Society. The library is also home to over 400 recordings of Jewish South Carolinians, Holocaust Archives, and rabbinical records. It also houses documents such as unpublished memoirs, genealogical material, photographs, family collections, postcards, scrapbooks, business records, and more.

To apply, interested scholars should submit a cover letter explaining their specific research needs in Charleston. The length of the project should be included, as should a detailed curriculum vitae and a two-page project proposal. All materials can be sent to Shari Rabin, the director of the Center, by email at rabinsl@cofc.edu.

Candidates who wish to visit during the academic school year (September through April) should apply by August 1, while those wishing to visit during the summer months (May through August) may apply by March 1. Candidates seeking free housing should apply earlier rather than later.

Applications are now open for the Women in Global Health LEAD Fellowship. This fellowship recognizes that women are agents of change when they are engaged in leadership positions. They are able to implement policies that support women, children, families, communities, and entire nations, yet still remain underrepresented in leadership areas in health, medicine, and life sciences.

The Harvard Global Health Institute and the Women and Health Initiatives at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health created a fellowship to target rising female leaders from low- and middle-income countries. Selected candidates will engage in a four-month residence at Harvard as they undertake and then execute an eighteen-month professional development plant. Fellows may take classes in any of Harvard’s schools and will later be invited to share their experiences upon their return to their places of employment.

Candidates will also be involved in mentoring programs, which are focused on each candidate’s specific needs and potential career paths. Women from all regions and disciplines are encouraged to apply. Successful applicants will be able to articulate a clear vision for personal growth and change. They will participate in leadership training, speaking and networking opportunities, and independent project work in addition to their mentoring experiences.

As a result of this project, candidates will be expected to execute their personal growth and leadership plans back in their home countries. Candidates will produce training events for peers as well as detailed progress reports, and will later have the opportunity to mentor a future LEAD fellow.

Applicants for this fellowship must work full-time in global health. Each candidate should have at least 15 years of professional experience, including proven leadership experience. Experience conducted as a university student does not count. Candidates are expected to reside in the Boston/Cambridge area during the semester at Harvard, during which time they should be free of any work-related commitments. They need to have the full support of their employers, including a person who is willing to sign on as an internal mentor.

To apply, each candidate must nominate him or herself by submitting an application to the fellowship. There are no academic or age prerequisites. Fellows must not have participated in a full-time fellowship that lasted four months or longer during the years at least two years prior to their arrival.

Fellows will be in residence at Harvard for four months (one academic semester) between August 2020 and December 2020. Candidates must devote themselves full-time to the work outlined in their proposals. In return, the program provides for housing in the Boston area, a roundtrip, economy class ticket to Harvard, office space, a monthly stipend, and full access to all libraries and resources at Harvard during the fellowship period. Fellows are responsible for arranging their own health insurance.

All applications must be submitted by March 15, 2020, although proposals will be reviewed in a rolling format until that point. All candidates will be notified of their application status the week of May 1, 2020.

Each year, the John W. Kluge Center invites talented scholars to conduct original research at the Kluge Center with the utilization of the Library of Congress collections. The scholarships were created in 2000 and are sponsored by an endowment of $60 million from John W. Kluge. The Center provides scholars with access to the Library’s extensive resources, staff, and intellectual community.

Any candidates with a background in the humanities or social sciences may apply to use the Library’s large and varied collections. Candidates with interdisciplinary, cross cultural, or multilingual interests are particularly encouraged to apply. Selected researchers will be granted access to the world’s largest law library, as well as several collections of books and periodicals. The institute also includes a diverse collection of manuscripts, music, photographs, and more.

To apply, interested candidates should submit a completed application form in English, as well as supplemental materials. These materials include a curriculum vitae of no more than two pages, as well as a statement of proposed research. Applicants should also submit a single paragraph abstract and a detailed explanation of why the Library of Congress is the ideal venue for research. A bibliography of works and three references should also be supplied.

Applicants may be from any research area in the humanities or social sciences, as well as professional fields like architecture or law. Candidates who have received a terminal advanced degree within the past seven years in the humanities, social sciences, or related professional fields are preferred, but individuals without continuous academic careers may also be considered.

All applications must be submitted by July 15. Selected applicants will receive a monthly stipend of $5,000 per month for four to eleven months. Questions can be directed to the John W. Kluge Center at scholarly@loc.gov.
