The Harvard Business School has launched a new program specifically tailored to help aspiring African executives reach their potential. The Senior Executive Program – Africa promises to strengthen your leadership skills and develop your insight into local, regional, and global markets.

The continent of Africa is a diverse home of various cultures, nations, economics, and politics. These differences create both unique business challenges and opportunities. To be successful, Africa’s leading executives must design and execute effective strategies for growth both inside and outside the continent. They must also create innovative offerings, nurture high-performance teams, and navigate rapid change in Africa’s markets. This program will explore the approaches of successful African leaders and prepare you to compete effectively, seize growth opportunities, and sustain success for your organization.

The course is comprised of three modules. The first will take place August 5 – 10, 2019 at Port Louis, Mauritius. The second module will consist of an independent business challenge project, which will last August 11 to November 30, 2019. And finally, the third module will occur at the Harvard Business School campus in Boston, MA, December 1 to 6, 2017. These modules will help you build the knowledge, perspective, and confidence necessary to become an effective leader and accelerate your company’s growth. The course will also give you the chance to interact with and learn from other senior leaders across Africa.

What will you study while participating in this course? It will immerse you in best practices in designing winning strategies, enabling innovation, establishing competitive advantage, leading effectively, improving governance, and more. The course is designed to maximize learning while minimizing your time away from work. That is why the second module of the course gives you a chance to apply your learning to a special project that will contribute to your organization’s success.

Google invites United States residents who are eager to master web and mobile development skills to apply for their prestigious Developer Scholarships. These scholarships allow students to learn valuable skills to launch or advance their careers as mobile or web developers. The curriculum is developed by experts from Google and Udacity and allows students to excel in a rapidly growing community of developers across the country.

Applicants must be at least eighteen years old and residents of the United States. Students may choose from either a Web Developer or Android Developer track. Once students have applied and selected a learning path (and, of course, accepted to the program), they will be placed in either a Beginner or Intermediate training track. Top students in each track will earn full scholarships to Android or Web Development Nanodegree programs.

There are twenty-five thousand seats available in the web developer track. No programming experience is required, and students will engage in a three-month program with access to Intro to HTML + CSS with support from Udacity mentors. Students will learn how to design and build stunning, engaging websites. The top 1,500 students from this program will be awarded scholarships.

In the mobile developer track, students will receive a three-month training in Android basics. They will learn how to build Android apps and learn Java development. Again, the top 1,500 students will be awarded scholarships to the more intensive six-month study program.

The application process takes only about ten minutes. All applicants, regardless of experience level or track, will complete the same application. Training in this program, as well as the application process, all takes place entirely online.

The Institute for Comparative Federalism of Eurac Research, the Faculty of Law and the School of Political Science and Sociology of the University of Innsbruck announces a new common cross-border project. This program, called The Winter School on Federalism and Governance, was initially created in 2010, but has undergone multiple revisions. It takes place under the Secretary General of the Council of Europe.

This school analyzes the interaction of federalism, regionalism, and multilevel governance from both political and legal perspectives. Each edition of the program allows students to focus on specific topics from the detailed approach of scholars, practitioners, and political scientists.

Students will examine the success and risk factors of multilevel governance systems through a wide range of case studies regarding the European Union, multinational states, and Eastern Europe. Students will study different policy fields such as financial relations and environmental policies.

The Institute for Comparative Federalism conducts comparative legal studies and applied research on governance in Europe and throughout the rest of the world. It is a component of Eurac Research, which conducts innovative research and training in Italy.

The next edition of the Winter School will be held from February 5th to 16th, 2018, and focuses on federalism in the making. It will be held in Innsbruck Austria, and Bolzano, Italy. Innsbruck is well known for Alpine scenery and architectural heritage. Students will enjoy a bustling university town and many winter sports. Bolzano is rich in culture and heritage, as well as architecture. Students will spend the two weeks of the winter school in lectures and discussion sessions, workshops, and study visits. They will be given multiple opportunities for discussion with leading experts on multilevel governance.

All international students, whether young researchers, academics, post-doctoral and post-graduate students, or civil servants, are invited to apply. Applicants are accepted from August until October 26, 2017. Scholarships are available for qualified students. Students must attend both weeks of the program. The University of Oxford is now accepting applications for their one-day course titled “Improving Your Blog.” If you already have a blog and want to improve its design, add other features, and have it read by a wider audience, then this may be the course for you. Technical advice provided in the course will be for blogs written on the WordPress platform, and the course is open to all blog topics. The day will begin with personalized feedback on your blog that will include suggestions for improving its design, navigation, and writing style/format. Then, you will be introduced to larger possibilities of blogging and how to promote your blog. You will also learn how to measure and encourage reader interest; how to monetize your blog; and how to deal with writer’s block and other challenges.

The course will run from 9:45 am to 5:00 pm on September 2, 2017. Morning and afternoon tea will be provided along with an hour for lunch. The course costs £87, and you can purchase a bag lunch for an additional £4.40, or a full lunch for £13. However, if you are currently receiving a state benefit, then you may be eligible for a 50% reduction in the tuition fees. Several colleges at the University of Cambridge are accepting applications from international students wanting to pursue a short course of study at the university. The courses will begin in October and last one academic year, and the available courses are typically at a first- or second-year level of study. At the end of the year, you will be expected to take an examination.

Fitzwilliam College has five spaces available and welcomes applications from Junior Year Abroad and Erasmus+ students. You must have completed at least one year of university-level coursework and earned high marks. The college will not accept applicants in the fields of architecture, law, medicine, and veterinary medicine.

Homerton College is only accepting applications from non-degree seeking students under the support of the Erasmus+ and DAAD funding schemes.

Lucy Cavendish College has 20 spaces available and accepts applications from visiting students who want to study at Cambridge for a full academic year and will be 21-years-old when they start the year. You must possess a strong academic record, and applications are due March 1. The college will not accept applications from those in the fields of architecture, medicine, or veterinary medicine.

Magdalene College only has two spaces available, and it welcomes DAD, Erasmus+, or Junior Year Abroad applicants. The application deadline is November 15, and you must submit a curriculum vita, academic transcripts, references, financial support details, and a statement from your home university approving your application. The college will not accept applicants in the fields of architecture, law, mathematics, medicine, or veterinary medicine.

Newnham College has two spaces available and primarily accepts Junior Year Abroad applicants from Columbia. However, strong applications from Studienstiftung and DAAD students from Germany and Erasmus+ students from EU countries may be considered. The college’s application deadline is January 31.

Pembroke College limits its applicants to one-year visiting Studienstifung and DAAD students from Germany, but Erasmus+ students from other EU countries are also welcome. Applicants from the United States are eligible, too, including Junior Year Abroad students from the University of Chicago, Columbia University, Brown University, Butler University, and Occidental College. The college’s application deadline is January 31.

Peterhouse College has three spaces available and welcomes applications from students in the fields of economics, history, history of art, and philosophy. If you are a German student, you may also take mathematics and natural sciences courses. You must demonstrate strong academic performance to be considered, and the college only accepts those who wish to study for a full academic year. Applications from Erasmus+, Junior Year Abroad, and DAAD are also considered, and the deadline to apply is January 31.

Finally, Robinson College also accepts applications from one-year visiting students. It limits applicants to Studienstifung and DAAD students from Germany; Erasmus+ students from EU countires; and Junior Year Abroad students from Cornell University and Columbia University.
