The Harvard Business School has launched a new program specifically tailored to help aspiring African executives reach their potential. The Senior Executive Program – Africa promises to strengthen your leadership skills and develop your insight into local, regional, and global markets.

The continent of Africa is a diverse home of various cultures, nations, economics, and politics. These differences create both unique business challenges and opportunities. To be successful, Africa’s leading executives must design and execute effective strategies for growth both inside and outside the continent. They must also create innovative offerings, nurture high-performance teams, and navigate rapid change in Africa’s markets. This program will explore the approaches of successful African leaders and prepare you to compete effectively, seize growth opportunities, and sustain success for your organization.

The course is comprised of three modules. The first will take place August 5 – 10, 2019 at Port Louis, Mauritius. The second module will consist of an independent business challenge project, which will last August 11 to November 30, 2019. And finally, the third module will occur at the Harvard Business School campus in Boston, MA, December 1 to 6, 2017. These modules will help you build the knowledge, perspective, and confidence necessary to become an effective leader and accelerate your company’s growth. The course will also give you the chance to interact with and learn from other senior leaders across Africa.

What will you study while participating in this course? It will immerse you in best practices in designing winning strategies, enabling innovation, establishing competitive advantage, leading effectively, improving governance, and more. The course is designed to maximize learning while minimizing your time away from work. The application program is now open for the International Scholarship Program at the Aga Khan Foundation. This program offers a small number of scholarships to postgraduate students who hail from select developing countries. These students should have no other means of financing their studies, with the scholarship intended to prepare them for effective employment.

The scholarship is awarded on a fifty percent grant and fifty percent loan basis. The application process is competitive, with the application process conducted once a year in June or July. Candidates who are interested in studying in Master’s level courses are preferred, but those who are in PhD programs may also be considered if they are highly recommended for doctoral studies. Candidates who are seeking enrollment in short-term courses will not be considered, nor will students who have already started their studies.

Applications will be accepted from students of the following countries: Uganda, Madagascar, Mozambique, Kenya, Tanzania, Tajikistan, Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Syria, Kyrgyzstan, Syria, and Egypt. Candidates with French, Portuguese, British, American, and Canadian citizenship may also be considered as long as they are from those developing countries originally and are interested in development-related studies. They must meet all other eligibility requirements as well.

Admissions preference is given to students who are under thirty years of age and have consistently excellent academic records. Candidates must also have extensive financial need and have been admitted to a reputable university or program of study. Their studies should be relevant to the institute’s focus areas. Candidates should be capable of demonstrating thoughtful educational and career plans, as well as have the potential to achieve their goals in a foreign learning environment. Applicant should have some work experience in their field as well.

The Foundation will in turn assist with tuition fees and living expenses, with the cost of travel not included in the scholarship award. Funding is provided for two years of study. All applications must be submitted no later than March, with individual deadlines varying depending on the student’s country of origin. The earliest application forms are due March 8 with others not due until March 31. Upon submission of the application and all related materials, candidates should be prepared to engage in an interview by local scholarship committees.

Applicants should have a strong business vision and be interested in acquiring the tools and methods needed to develop their businesses. It is designed for women who have already begun building their businesses, and are interested in making them more effective and valuable. The program offers personal and professional development that lead toward the development of an equal and sustainable society.

In addition to providing women with the opportunity to develop their business initiatives and to acquire personal skills, it grants them access to innovative tools and entrepreneurial skill development. Candidates will leave the program with a finely tuned knowledge of topics like communication, sales, finance, funding, branding, and business development. They will be granted individual feedback on their business initiatives from leading entrepreneurs and mentors, and will also gain access to a powerful and prominent network of like minded women.

The program is separated into two and a half weeks, each divided into two modules at different times. This intensive program offers a full-day schedule and multiple evening activities. The first module, held in Stockholm, Sweden from June 9-20, is set up with a practical approach that includes workshops, lectures, and networking. This first module is dedicated to developing a personal business initiative and acquiring knowledge of topics like funding, communication, marketing, and business modeling.

The second module will be held held in Stockholm, Sweden from September 15 to 21. The focus of this module will be to build and expand a business network through hands-on activities like workshops, meetings with mentors, and seminars.

All costs are covered and arranged by the Swedish Institute, including training, accommodations, food, domestic transport, flight tickets, insurance, and visa costs. Selected candidates are only responsible for domestic travel and airport transfer in the home country and insurance when modules are located outside of Sweden.

With the support of the British Council, Hivos, and Sida, Digital Earth has released a call for applications for the 2018-2019 Digital Earth Fellowship. This program is a six-month fellowship for artists and designers living and working in Africa or Asia. Artists representing a variety of media are encouraged to apply to this program, which supports an in-depth investigation into the current technological reality.

The fellowship addresses the way in which our planet is connected by electromagnetic waves fiber optic cables, and other technological connections. The pervasiveness of technology is evident in every area, and Digital Earth recognizes the materiality of the digital world we live in. This fellowship invites divergent artists to explore and respond to the material and immaterial states of our technological world. It provides time for reflection and research, and focuses on the technological connections and interchanges between Asia and Africa.

Potential research topics might include the performativity of the robot-ports on the Siberian coastline, the cultural logistics and protocols of freeport zones, the aesthetics of satellite imagery, and more.

This program provides a monthly stipend for work and production costs, as well as excellent mentorship and other services and resources. Artists will be funded based on the cost of living in the country in which they plan to work. Each candidate will also receive exclusive access to research and production infrastructure, including theory and practice courses, creative outposts, and a network of researchers.

Fellows are expected to interact with both their mentors and other fellows in Google Hangouts sessions. The goal of this project is to inspire an exchange between artists of all kinds regarding the state of our digital world. All artists’ final work will be showcased in a roaming exhibition in either 2019 or 2020.

Applicants do not need to be citizens of Asian or African countries, but their work must be based in one of those nations Applications will be judged based on the overall quality of the research proposal, along with the visual and reflective skills of the candidate.

The Global Cultural Leadership Programme is designed for young cultural managers and practitioners seeking to improve their leadership skills and gain access to a growing global network of like-minded professionals. This year, the programme will be held in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, from October 27 to November 2, 2018.

In this program, participants will be exposed to a broad framework of important methodology and content, utilizing reflection, network-building, and collaborative learning to help young managers gain new insights and approaches. Students will be given access to new tools, applied learning modules, and materials for practice-based learning.

This five-day training program consists of reflections, exchanges, and hands-on workshops, as well as lectures from experts and peers. Participants will exchange important cultural dialogue with local peers in Amsterdam and also engage in a site visit to the European Capital of Culture Leeuwarden 2018, located in the province of Friesland.

Forty participants will be accepted, with successful applicants hailing from different fields of cultural practice within their respective home nations. In particular, cultural managers who are residents of Brazil, Canada, China, Japan, India, Mexico, Russia, South Africa, South Korea, the United States, or one of the twenty-eight European Union member states will be given preference. Ten European Union participants in total will be selected, with three participants from each of the aforementioned countries also selected.

Candidates should also have relevant working experience amounting to at least three to five years, as well as some previous experience in international networking. They should be employed in a field that allows them to act as receptors and distributors of new leadership knowledge and hold a leading management position in their organization. All accepted candidates will also work for a cultural civil society organization, institution, enterprise, or other similar cultural organization.

Applicants should be between twenty-five and thirty-nine years of age and have a good working knowledge of the English language. All travel and accommodation costs will be covered by the program. To apply for Global Cultural Leadership Programme 2018, interested candidates should fill out an online application form and submit all supporting materials, including a CV and expression of interest. Udacity’s Google Africa Scholarship Program offers Web and Android scholarships to residents of African countries. These scholarship programs enable talented students to learn the skills necessary to accelerate their careers, or to advance their progress in the field of mobile and web development.

The curriculum of this program is designed by Google and Udacity, and supports a large and quickly developing community of developers. The scholarship is open to students who are at least eighteen years old and reside in an African nation. Once accepted, each student will be placed in a beginner or intermediate track, depending on his or her existing abilities and relevant experiences. Some scholarship recipients are even eligible to participate in Andela Learning Communities. Top students from each track will earn full scholarships to an Android or Web Development Nanodegree program.

There are 5,000 seats in the beginner track programs. No programming experience is required, and this program provides a two-month access to Intro to HTML and CSS. Students learn how to design and construct effective and attractive websites. The top 150 students from the Beginner Track are awarded scholarships to the Front-End Web Developer Nanodegree program. The intermediate track hosts 2,500 seats and requires some programming experience.
Students learn how to build next-generation web applications that are more responsive. From the intermediate track, 10 0students will be awarded scholarships to the Mobile Web Specialist Nanodegree program.

The program takes place entirely online and has few prerequisites besides prior programming experiences (in limited cases) as well as an age requirement of eighteen years or older. Students may complete the courses wherever they live. The first phase of the scholarship provides two months of access to a curated path of Udacity courses, custom-fit to ensure that students are working within their skill levels. The second phase provides 500 students with next-level access and funding for additional coursework.

All applications are due by April 24, 2018, with recipients notified by May 2. Programs begin on May 8. The application process is quick and straightforward, and requires students to respond to questions about their academic goals and experiences. Between twenty and twenty five scholarships will be awarded for the 2018-2019 academic year by Utrecht Excellence Scholarships. This program is designed for students who have applied for international master’s programs at Utrecht University, with an ideal start date of September 1, 2018. Although not all programs are eligible for the scholarship, most allow students to participate. Six graduate schools participate in this scholarship program.

Utrecht Excellence Scholarships are available for exceptional graduate program applicants who hail from countries outside of the Netherlands. These scholarships are awarded to students who are in the top ten percent of their graduating classes and hold a non-European Union passport. Recipients of the award will have completed secondary school and Bachelor degree studies outside of the Netherlands, and not be eligible for support under the Dutch system of grants and loans.

This scholarship can be used to cover expenses including, but not limited to, tuition fees and living expenses. It may not consist of a full scholarship, so it might be necessary for recipients to secure additional funding to be able to finance the complete cost of studies. In addition, students requiring a residence permit must provide evidence of sufficient financial means to cover enrollment to the Immigration and Naturalization Office.

The scholarship is awarded for the entire duration of the degree program, either one or two years depending on the program of study. The second year of the scholarship will only be renewed if the student is making satisfactory academic progress.

Interested students should apply before February 1, 2018. Scholarship applications are only processed if an application has already been received for a Master’s program. Candidates will be chosen based on the strength of the applicant in regards to academic excellence in the proposed field of study, test scores, a writing sample, letters of recommendation, and the quality and relevance of the motivation letter used for entry into the Master’s program. Ph.D. students and recent college graduates from Sub-Saharan Africa are eligible to apply for the World Bank Group Africa Fellowship Program. In particular, women are encouraged to apply. The goal of this program is to attract young talent from Africa to the World Bank community.

Fellows will spend at least six months obtaining hands-on experience at the World Bank headquarters in Washington D.C., or in country offices. Fellows will engage in research, economic policy, technical assistance, and lending operations that ultimately assist with the World Bank goal of eliminating poverty and increasing shared prosperity.

This year’s program is facilitated by the World Bank’s Office of Chief Economist for Africa, in collaboration with the Fragility, Conflict and Violence Unit. This program began in 2013 and aims to build a network of Sub-Saharan African researchers and professionals who are interested in working in the development field, either at home or in another country.

Ten fellowships are available with a special focus on forced displacement. These ten fellows will work on forced displacement research led by the World Bank Group or the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. They will work in Sub-Saharan Africa, South Asia, or the Middle East. Candidates who hail from refugee and internally displaced communities, or those with proven experience in this topic will be given top priority.

At the end of the program, all fellows will contribute to a research paper. Applicants who are Ph.D. graduates or within a year of completing studies are encouraged to apply, especially graduates with experience or education in fields such as economics, applied statistics and econometrics, impact evaluation, education, health, energy, agriculture, infrastructure, demography, forced displacement, and all relevant development fields. All candidates must have an excellent command of the English language, as well as strong analytical and quantitative skills. The Global Governance Futures—Robert Bosch Foundation Multilateral Dialogues program is now accepting applications for its fellowship program. This program brings together promising young professionals from a variety of industries—academic, civil, governmental, non-governmental, private, etc—to plan ahead for the year 2030 in planning solutions to key global challenges. This program will invite twenty-seven fellows from Brazil, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Japan, South Africa, and the United States to focus on futures of global order, migration, refugee crises, and the role of cities in global governance.

The program will consist of four dialogue sessions of five to eight days each, that will take place in Washington DC, New Delhi, Sao Paulo, and Paris-Berlin. Exact dates of each session will be announced closer to the session. Between sessions, each fellow will be expected to contribute an average of eight hours each to advance the writing of the final working group essay.

At each session, fellows will engage in riveting discussions within their working groups. They will meet with experts, policymakers and business leaders from each host country. They will also receive training in methodology and engage in problem-solving sessions to determine possible solutions to global challenges. Fellows will publish the results of their studies in a series of products including presentations, essays, commentaries, podcasts, and interviews.

To apply, applicants must be citizens of Brazil, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Japan, South Africa, or the united States. They should have at least three years of professional experience and demonstrate a strong commitment and interest in contributing to solving global challenges. Fellows should also be prepared to interact with the developing GGF alumni community and to promote GGF beyond the duration of their fellowships.

In addition, fellows should have a proven track record of making a difference in their communities, organizations, or companies. They should have exceptional academic abilities and a strong command of spoken and written English.
