<p>The application program is now open for the International Scholarship Program at the Aga Khan Foundation. This program offers a small number of scholarships to postgraduate students who hail from select developing countries. These students should have no other means of financing their studies, with the scholarship intended to prepare them for effective employment. </p>
<p>The scholarship is awarded on a fifty percent grant and fifty percent loan basis. The application process is competitive, with the application process conducted once a year in June or July. Candidates who are interested in studying in Master’s level courses are preferred, but those who are in PhD programs may also be considered if they are highly recommended for doctoral studies. Candidates who are seeking enrollment in short-term courses will not be considered, nor will students who have already started their studies. </p>
<p> Applications will be accepted from students of the following countries: Uganda, Madagascar, Mozambique, Kenya, Tanzania, Tajikistan, Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Syria, Kyrgyzstan, Syria, and Egypt. Candidates with French, Portuguese, British, American, and Canadian citizenship may also be considered as long as they are from those developing countries originally and are interested in development-related studies. They must meet all other eligibility requirements as well. </p>
<p>Admissions preference is given to students who are under thirty years of age and have consistently excellent academic records. Candidates must also have extensive financial need and have been admitted to a reputable university or program of study. Their studies should be relevant to the institute’s focus areas. Candidates should be capable of demonstrating thoughtful educational and career plans, as well as have the potential to achieve their goals in a foreign learning environment. Applicant should have some work experience in their field as well. </p>
<p>The Foundation will in turn assist with tuition fees and living expenses, with the cost of travel not included in the scholarship award. Funding is provided for two years of study. All applications must be submitted no later than March, with individual deadlines varying depending on the student&#8217;s country of origin. The earliest application forms are due March 8 with others not due until March 31. Upon submission of the application and all related materials, candidates should be prepared to engage in an interview by local scholarship committees. </p>

<p>With the support of the British Council, Hivos, and Sida, Digital Earth has released a call for applications for the 2018-2019 Digital Earth Fellowship. This program is a six-month fellowship for artists and designers living and working in Africa or Asia. Artists representing a variety of media are encouraged to apply to this program, which supports an in-depth investigation into the current technological reality. </p>
<p>The fellowship addresses the way in which our planet is connected by electromagnetic waves  fiber optic cables, and other technological connections. The pervasiveness of technology is evident in every area, and Digital Earth recognizes the materiality of the digital world we live in. This fellowship invites divergent artists to explore and respond to the material and immaterial states of our technological world. It provides time for reflection and research, and focuses on the technological connections and interchanges between Asia and Africa.</p>
<p>Potential research topics might include the performativity of the robot-ports on the Siberian coastline, the cultural logistics and protocols of freeport zones, the aesthetics of satellite imagery, and more. </p>
<p>This program provides a monthly stipend for work and production costs, as well as excellent mentorship and other services and resources. Artists will be funded based on the cost of living in the country in which they plan to work. Each candidate will also receive exclusive access to research and production infrastructure, including theory and practice courses, creative outposts, and a network of researchers. </p>
<p>Fellows are expected to interact with both their mentors and other fellows in Google Hangouts sessions. The goal of this project is to inspire an exchange between artists of all kinds regarding the state of our digital world. All artists’ final work will be showcased in a roaming exhibition in either 2019 or 2020. </p>
<p>Applicants do not need to be citizens of Asian or African countries, but their work must be based in one of those nations Applications will be judged based on the overall quality of the research proposal, along with the visual and reflective skills of the candidate. </p>

<p>Udacity’s Google Africa Scholarship Program offers Web and Android scholarships to residents of African countries. These scholarship programs enable talented students to learn the skills necessary to accelerate their careers, or to advance their progress in the field of mobile and web development.</p>
<p>The curriculum of this program is designed by Google and Udacity, and supports a large and quickly developing community of developers. The scholarship is open to students who are at least eighteen years old and reside in an African nation. Once accepted, each student will be placed in a beginner or intermediate track, depending on his or her existing abilities and relevant experiences. Some scholarship recipients are even eligible to participate in Andela Learning Communities. Top students from each track will earn full scholarships to an Android or Web Development Nanodegree program. </p>
<p>There are 5,000 seats in the beginner track programs. No programming experience is required, and this program provides a two-month access to Intro to HTML and CSS. Students learn how to design and construct effective and attractive websites. The top 150 students from the Beginner Track are awarded scholarships to the Front-End Web Developer Nanodegree program. The intermediate track hosts 2,500 seats and requires some programming experience.<br />
Students learn how to build next-generation web applications that are more responsive. From the intermediate track, 10 0students will be awarded scholarships to the Mobile Web Specialist Nanodegree program.</p>
<p>The program takes place entirely online and has few prerequisites besides prior programming experiences (in limited cases) as well as an age requirement of eighteen years or older. Students may complete the courses wherever they live. The first phase of the scholarship provides two months of access to a curated path of Udacity courses, custom-fit to ensure that students are working within their skill levels. The second phase provides 500 students with next-level access and funding for additional coursework. </p>
<p>All applications are due by April 24, 2018, with recipients notified by May 2. Programs begin on May 8. The application process is quick and straightforward, and requires students to respond to questions about their academic goals and experiences. <p>Ph.D. students and recent college graduates from Sub-Saharan Africa are eligible to apply for the World Bank Group Africa Fellowship Program. In particular, women are encouraged to apply. The goal of this program is to attract young talent from Africa to the World Bank community.</p>
<p>Fellows will spend at least six months obtaining hands-on experience at the World Bank headquarters in Washington D.C., or in country offices. Fellows will engage in research, economic policy, technical assistance, and lending operations that ultimately assist with the World Bank goal of eliminating poverty and increasing shared prosperity.</p>
<p>This year’s program is facilitated by the World Bank’s Office of Chief Economist for Africa, in collaboration with the Fragility, Conflict and Violence Unit. This program began in 2013 and aims to build a network of Sub-Saharan African researchers and professionals who are interested in working in the development field, either at home or in another country.</p>
<p>Ten fellowships are available with a special focus on forced displacement. These ten fellows will work on forced displacement research led by the World Bank Group or the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. They will work in Sub-Saharan Africa, South Asia, or the Middle East. Candidates who hail from refugee and internally displaced communities, or those with proven experience in this topic will be given top priority.</p>
<p>At the end of the program, all fellows will contribute to a research paper. Applicants who are Ph.D. graduates or within a year of completing studies are encouraged to apply, especially graduates with experience or education in fields such as economics, applied statistics and econometrics, impact evaluation, education, health, energy, agriculture, infrastructure, demography, forced displacement, and all relevant development fields. All candidates must have an excellent command of the English language, as well as strong analytical and quantitative skills. Applications are now being accepted and may be submitted until November 19, 2017.</p>
<p>Sub-Saharan nationals who are recent Ph.D. graduates, or current doctoral students within a year of completing or graduating from a Ph.D. program in the following fields: economics, applied statistics and econometrics, impact evaluation, education, health, energy, agriculture, infrastructure, demography, forced displacement, and all relevant development fields.</p>

<p>The Global Undergraduate Exchange Program invites students to apply to its exciting non-degree full-time study program. These programs are offered to roughly 2,000 global students. Participants will leave the United States with the skills necessary to become leaders in their professions and within their local communities. Graduates of this program have gone on to receive Fulbright grants, successful professional internships, and meaningful employment.</p>
<p>This program is offered to outstanding undergraduate students from anywhere in the world. The program incorporates full-time study with community service, professional development, and cultural enrichment. Students will leave the program with a strong understanding of how people of the United States interact with those from other countries. Students will explore the American educational system in detail, learning how their culture interacts with the culture of the United States. This program fosters a fulfilling exchange experience that influences academic and leadership abilities for students from Global UGRAD countries.</p>
<p>Students will also be given opportunities to network with other students and professionals in the United States. They will build academic knowledge and professional skills, along with a comprehensive knowledge of the United States.</p>
<p>The program is open to students of all countries, with the exception of the United States (this exception includes permanent residents or individuals currently studying, residing, or working outside of their home countries). Local employees of the United States missions abroad are also ineligible, as are immediate family members of employees of the U.S. Department of State. Current World Learning employees and their families are also ineligible to participate.</p>
<p>Applicants must also be citizens of one of the participating countries, and have already completed secondary education in that country. Participating countries include Algeria, Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Belarus, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Burma (Myanmar), Cambodia, China, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Egypt, El Salvador, Georgia, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, India, Indonesia, Israel, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Kosovo, Kuwait, Kyrgyzstan, Laos, Lebanon, Macedonia, Malawi, Malaysia, Maldives, Mauritania, Moldova, Mongolia, Montenegro, Morocco, Mozambique, Nepal, Nicaragua, Niger, Oman, Palestinian Territories, Panama, Paraguay, Philippines, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Tajikistan, Thailand, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Venezuela, Vietnam, and Zimbabwe.</p>
<p>Students should also have a solid command of written and spoken English and be prepared to begin studies in August 2018 or January 2019. <p><a href="https://studycor.com/organizations/funding/world-wildlife-fund/">The World Wildlife Fund (WWF)</a> is offering Professional Development Grants (PDGs) to support mid-career conservationists who want to pursue training that will upgrade their knowledge and skills. These trainings should be short-term, non-degree courses and can include short courses, certificate trainings, conferences, or other training opportunities.</p>
<p>You may only apply if you are from the WWF’s list of approved countries, and the WWF will give preference to applicants who are working in priority regions. The countries eligible to apply for PDGs are (in alphabetical order): Belize, Bhutan, Bolivia, Cambodia, Central African Republic, Colombia, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ecuador, Fiji, French Guiana, Gabon, Guatemala, Guyana, Honduras, Indonesia, Kenya, Laos, Madagascar, Malaysia, Mozambique, Myanmar, Namibia, Nepal, Papua New Guinea, Paraguay, Peru, Republic of Congo, Solomon Islands, Suriname, Uganda, Vietnam, and Zambia.</p>
<p>To be eligible for the grant, you must be a citizen of one of these countries, and you must currently live and work there. You must also have been working in a conservation-related field (in a paid position) for at least three years in your home country. At the time of your application, you must have already applied to or been accepted to the proposed training. Your current work and the proposed training ought to support conservation in your home country, and you cannot be enrolled in an academic degree program. Your employer must have approved your participation in the training, and you must have a promise of continued employment. You must also possess a bank account in your own name that can receive US dollars, and you cannot have received PDG funding in the past. The proposed training must begin at least 90 days after the application deadline and be completed within six months.</p>

<p>The Islamic Development Bank launched the IDB Merit Scholarship Program for High Technology in 1992. This program, still offered today, aims to develop technically qualified employees in IDB member countries. This is done through the promotion and provision of scholarships to outstanding scholars and researches in the fields of applied science and technology.</p>
<p>The program is designed to increase the scope of advanced studies and research in technology in developing member countries. It funds a full-time three-year Ph.D. study in scientific disciplines that enhance development. Acceptable fields include Health/Medicine, Agriculture/Food Production, Water Resources/Desertification, Energy/Infrastructure Development, Nanotechnology, and ICT for Development.</p>
<p>The program also allows researchers experience a six-month innovative post-doctoral research project. This project can address matters such as malaria, Ebola, food production, energy, and others. The goal of the program is to assist the needs of member countries and to develop quality human resources.</p>
<p>Applicants must be under the age of thirty-five for Ph.D. study, and forty for post-doctoral research. They should be attached to a research or academic institution in science and technology and possess the required academic and professional background. Within the application, they must demonstrate that the research proposed has scientist and technological relevance. They must also have proficiency in the language at the institution of study.</p>
<p>PhD candidates must secure admission at a university listed in the Times Higher Education Supplement. Priority is given to students enrolled at universities that have completed a cooperation agreement with the IDB. These institutions include the University of Cambridge, University of Nottingham, University College London and Imperial College London in the UK, Princeton University in the United States, and KAUST in Saudi Arabia. Successful candidates for post-doctoral research are encouraged to complete their research projects at the Research Centres of Excellence.</p>
<p>The scholarship provides all academic and living allowances, health insurance, round trip airfare to and from the place of study, conference participation fees, and scientific paper preparation allowances. The program is offered every year.</p>
<p>To apply, students should complete the application form for 3-year Ph.D. study or post-doctoral research. It should be submitted through nominating institutions to the Office of the IDB Governor for the country. For more information, applicants should visit www.isdb.org.</p>

<p>The United Nations recently developed a program designed to recruit talented, exceptional young professional for work with the United Nations Secretariat. The Young Professionals Programme (YPP) aims to increase participation of countries that are underrepresented in the United Nations. Applications are open to students from the following countries: Afghanistan, Andorra, Angola, Antigua and Barbuda, Australia, Bahrain, Belarus, Belize, Brazil, Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Cape Verde, Central African Republic, Chad, China, Comoros, Democratic People&#8217;s Republic of Korea, Dominica, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Honduras, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Japan, Kiribati, Kuwait, Laos, Latvia, Lesotho, Liberia, Libya, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Marshall Islands, Micronesia, Monaco, Mozambique, Nauru, Norway, Oman, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Poland, Qatar, Saint Lucia, Sao Tome and Principe, Saudi Arabia, South Sudan, St Vincent and the Grenadines, Suriname, Thailand, Timor-Leste, Turkmenistan, Tuvalu, United Arab Emirates, United States, Vanuatu, Venezuela, and Vietnam (though this list does change annually). Applicants must take the YPP examination, which is held once a year.</p>

<p>Successful applicants will hold a first-level university degree that is relevant to the desired subject area in the application. They must also be fluent or native speakers of English or French and be under 32 years of age. To apply, interested students should review the job opening for their desired subject area and confirm that they are eligible to apply. Applications can be completed through Inspira. If more than forty candidates apply from the same country, other qualifying information (such as work experience and knowledge of UN languages) may be used.<br />
If your application is successful, you will be sent an invitation to take the examination, which consists of a general paper, specialized paper, multiple choice items, constructed response items, and an oral examination. Successful candidates will be notified in July and will remain on the roster of candidates for two years. If they are selected from the roster, they will be offered a two-year term contract with the Secretariat. </p>
