In 1995, the governments of France and the Netherlands created the Descartes-Huygens award. This award was dedicated to attracting quality researchers (in addition to an interested public population) to improve relations in scholarship and science. Every year, two participants are awarded a substantial grant to study in this area.

The prize consists of a grant of 23,000 euros, and it is designed to cover at least some of the costs of a French researcher’s work and research residency in the Netherlands. This can also cover sequential working visits by a French researcher to the Netherlands (as well as the other way around). While research is the main focus of this award, other activities that enhance Franco-Dutch partnerships and cooperation can also be carried out.

The ideal candidate will be a researcher who is in the early to middle stages of his or her career. He or she should be currently employed somewhere in the country of France and have contributed to scientific and academic work. The selected candidate will stay for at least three months in the Netherlands. This three months can be broken out into numerous visits or carried out all at once. Additional activities may be developed while in residence as well.

The selected researcher should be prepared to dedicate the broad public as well as focused researchers on the research project that was carried out under the financial support of the prize. This may be done through media appearances or through targeted lectures.

Each researcher at Dutch universities and research institutes may nominate qualified French applicants. The Dutch nomination form must be used. The form, along with a completed curriculum vitae sent as attachments) should be sent to the Academy via email. All materials must be sent via the email address wetenschapsfondsen@knaw.nl no later than July 1, 2019.

Awards are going to be presented to the French and Dutch laureate in early 2020. This will be done in Paris. More information may be found by visiting the French Ministry of Higher Education, Research, and Innovation’s website, or by contacting the email address listed above.

Each year, the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture and Science, in partnership with the Rotterdam School of Management at Erasmus University, offers the Holland Scholarship. This scholarship is designed for international students who hail from areas outside of the European Economic area and who are interested in beginning their undergraduate or graduate studies at the Rotterdam School of Management.

This award provides successful candidates with up to € 5,000 for twelve months. It is awarded in the first year of study, and is paid via two separate installments – but only after the full tuition fee amount has been paid. This is usually sometime between November and February.

To apply, candidates must be from areas outside of the European Economic Area and be prospective students who are beginning their studies in 2019-2020. Candidates must be applying for full-time bachelor’s or master’s programs and must meet the specific requirements of the program they are applying for. Candidates must also not have degrees from educational institutions in the Netherlands (this excludes students who participated in exchange programs in the Netherlands).

The award is designed to be distributed throughout multiple programs, allowing for great diversity in distribution. Some preference may be given to applicants for certain programs to ensure a certain distribution and equality.
To apply, candidates must prove their excellence in prior education. This should be done by proving a GPA that is the equivalent of a Dutch grade of 8.0 on the Dutch grading scale 1-10. For students who have already attended some post-secondary education, those grades must be supplied in addition to secondary scores. Students who are recipients of other scholarships exceeding the amount of this award may not apply.

Recipients of the award agree to assist the Recruitment and Admissions Office by committing to eight hours per month of work during the academic year. Recipients also agree to begin their visa procedures before June 2019.
To begin the application process, interested candidates should register for the Bachelor International Business Administration program in Studielink. A link to the online application form will then be forwarded. Candidates should submit a scholarship application letter, an explanation of why they would need a scholarship (in other words, a description of the candidate’s current financial situation), an explanation of why the scholarship is deserved, a clear financial plan for years two and three, and certified copies of other scholarships granted.
All materials must be submitted no later than January 31 2019. Award recipients will be determined by April 15 2019.

Erasmus University invites qualified students to apply for the three-year BSc in International Business Administration at the Rotterdam School of Management. This program provides an excellent jump-start to a profound career in international business, or for distinguished studies abroad.

Graduates are currently found all over the world. Alumni are currently working in international environments where they are respected leaders in business and industry. The Rotterdam School of Management has a significant reputation around the world and is frequently recognized through global rankings in publications such as the Financial Times.

Each year, the program in International Business Administration admits no more than six hundred students. Applicants are ranked and considered for admission only if they submit applications by January 15. All supporting materials must be received by January 31. Before applying, all students must register for the IBA program in the Dutch national student registration system, Studielink. Once applications and registrations are received, students will be ranked. Rankings are determined by grade point average, mathematics grades, CV reputations, and responses to short answer questions about motivation.

Students should have taken mathematics at the calculus level and have adequate English language proficiency. This may be demonstrated through test results on the TOEFL or IELTS. All accepted students will also have a secondary school diploma which provides access to education at the university level in the student’s own home country.

Once ranked, placement will be determined within the program. Applicants who are ranked numbers 1-575 will automatically receive a placement and be notified of this by April 15. Those who rank 576 or higher will be placed on a waiting list. Rankings are calculated based on 50% GPA, 25% CV, and 25% short answer responses. More application information and questions may be directed to the administration of the program at https://www.eur.nl/e.

Leiden University invites qualified international students to apply for its exceptional undergraduate programs. Some diplomas guarantee direct admission to Bachelor’s programs at Leiden. However, international diplomas do not meet this qualification. In addition, some programs at Leiden have limited enrollment quotas, including Biomedical Sciences, Clinical Technology, Criminology, Medicine, and Tax Law. As a result, students interested in these programs should apply as soon as possible.

To be admitted to any program, students must be proficient in Dutch or English. Holders of an International Baccalaureate diploma with Dutch B Higher, Dutch A1, or Dutch A2 do not need to take proficiency exams. To demonstrate English proficiency, students should submit scores on the IELTS, TOEFL, or Cambridge English exam.

To apply, each student should first apply for an individual program of study in Studielink. These applications open October 1. Then, if a student is not automatically admitted to a program, they should complete an admissions application via Leiden University’s online admission portal. An application fee must be paid as well. Additional materials, such as transcripts with appropriate translations if necessary, along with letters of recommendation, may be submitted once the initial application has been submitted and received.

If admitted, students should prepare for their move to Leiden as soon as possible. Students should visit the New Student pages on the student website and request a student card at the Student Affairs Front Office. Students should also obtain LU-cards and sign up for an introduction program. Housing may be obtained via the university website.

Places are typically offered as early as April 15 and as late as August 31. The following table indicates the deadlines:

Delft University of Technology invites qualified and interested international applicants to apply for its stellar technology programs. Although application requirements are minimal, it is important that international students follow certain guidelines in order to receive full application consideration.

Applicants must have received secondary school diplomas that are considered to be equivalent to the Dutch pre-university diploma. Applications should have passed and received adequate marks on final examinations. Some programs necessitate that applicants have finished one year at a recognized Science University. They should submit certified copies of those original diplomas and lists of grades, translated into English, French, German or Dutch, if necessary. Applicants should also submit proof of language proficiency via the TOEFL, IELTS, or Cambridge examinations, along with an extensive resume or CV written in English.

Students should also submit proof of identity by photocopying the pages of their passports that provide name, date of birth, and passport expiration dates. If already in possession of full-time residency status in the Netherlands, applicants should submit copies of residency permits (both the front and back sides of the card). Finally, applicants should submit their selection of Numerus Clausus study programmes.

Applicants should keep in mind that certain BSc programmes only allow a certain amount of students and, as a result, have more specific selection criteria. Numerus Clausus study programs include: Aerospace Engineering, Architecture, Urbanism, and Building Sciences, Industrial Design Engineering, Clinical Technology, and Nanobiology. Each student must individually select their study program based on personal interests, experiences, and academic skill. Faculty and admissions members within individual study programs will carefully review each application for program acceptability.

All applications must be received no later than January 15, 2018. Questions, further application information, or comments may be submitted to the university admissions team at info@tudelft.nl.
