Along with the Oxford NERC Doctoral Training Program in Environmental Research, the St Cross College are offering a scholarship for students beginning their DPhil DTP (Doctoral Training Program) at Oxford University in the academic year 2019 to 2020. Open to both home and EU DPhil students, the DTP seek to recruit from the following three subjects: The Physical Climate, Biodiversity, Ecology & Evolutionary Processes, and the Dynamic Earth – Surface Processes and Natural Hazards.

Available for students taking their DPhil at St Cross College, beginning Michaelmas 2019, the Graduate Scholarship funds tuition fees for home and EU applicants throughout the whole study, given that students effectively complete their Transfer of Status. Additionally, the college will provide an annual maintenance grant for home students, to the value of £14,999 per year, in line with the RCUK doctoral stipend. Moreover, successful scholars will receive priority for accommodation within the College for their first year; the accommodation will be charged at the standard rate.

Candidates who will enter the position of DPhil in 2019-2020 can apply for the Graduate Scholarship Doctoral Training Program in Environmental Research through the University of Oxford’s application form. For this particular program, applicants should list St Cross College as their top choice. Note that all applications should be completed and sent by January 18th, 2019.

Note that the College will automatically consider applicants who list St Cross College as their first choice, as well as those who apply ahead of the deadline. Successful applicants will be judged on their academic merit and the DTP will take place at St Cross; there will be no opportunity to change Colleges.

The Audi Environmental Foundation invites applicants who work for non-governmental organizations and socially- or community-based organizations to apply for its annual scholarship. This scholarship provides exclusive access to the One Young World Summit 2018 in The Hague, Netherlands.

This award was established by AUDI AG in 2009 and provides young, like minded individuals with access to new technologies and sustainable practices that will benefit both the environment and society. The program recognizes the influence of scarce resources and environmental degradation on areas such as business, politics, and society. This program aims to develop solutions to these problems through collaboration and leadership.

Fifteen scholarships are available to provide young scholars with access to discussions surrounding sustainability and international cooperation. Each scholar will be granted access to the summit, as well as receive full financing of all associated expenses. Travel to and from The Hague will be financed, as well hotel accommodations for the duration of the program (from the 16th to 20th of October) and all catered meals, including breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Scholars will also receive transport between the pre-event location, accommodations, and venue. Their participation in the event will be fully paid for by the award as well.

To be eligible to apply, candidates must demonstrate exceptional passion for environmental issues, as well as a proven potential impact for innovation and leadership. Candidates who are not chosen for a scholarship, but are still interested in participating in the program, may do so by financing their own accommodations and admission.

Applicants should submit a completed online application form detailing their areas of scholarly interest. In this application, they should respond in detail to prompts inquiring about their initiative, previous success, and drive to contribute to a global society and sustainable environment. All application materials must be received by May 17, 2018. Questions may be directed to partnerships@oneyoungworld.com.

The Fulbright U.S. Student Program awards several grants to United States students and young professionals to study and/or conduct academic research at universities within EU Member States. Topics of study must include EU policies, EU institutes and the American-European Union agenda. Grants are available for students with Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctoral degrees.

Four total awards are available, for a grant period of six to nine months. The grant will last from September through June, with specific start dates negotiated directly with host institutions. Applicants may propose an area of research or study in one to three different countries. If a student is interested in studying in multiple countries, at least three months must be required in each European Union member state. The orientation date for the program will be supplied either by the Fulbright Commission or by the United States Embassy in the country of research.

To apply, students should submit a project proposal that focuses on the observation of comparative perspectives of issues of concern. These issues should be ones that involve both the United State and the European Union, such as:

internal and external security

peace-keeping

the EU and NATO

justice and home affairs

finance

trade

human rights

agricultural and environmental policies

energy

asylum

human trafficking

development

EU enlargement

Other topics may also be accepted. Proposals should relate to EU competencies and not simply Europe or countries within Europe. There should be a holistic value to the project. Successful applicants will exhibit personal, academic, and creative excellence, along with a strong research rationale and plan. They will be strong leaders and clearly indicate how their studies will benefit American-European Union relationships during and after their grant periods.

Applicants should be proficient in the language of their chosen country, though this is not a mandatory component of the application process. TO apply and for more information, students should visit http://www.fulbrightschuman.eu.
