Professor Denys Holland is remembered today as a sociable and friendly man who made a major impact on his students at the University College London. As a Professor of Law and Dean of Students, his main concern was the well-being and academic success of his students. As a result, the Denys Holland Scholarship was created to support undergraduate students from around the world who, without the assistance of this award, would not otherwise be able to study at the university.

In addition to this requirement, award recipients will demonstrate their goals in utilizing the activities offered by the University College London and the Student Union. To be eligible to apply, applicants should hold a valid UCL student number of UCAS application number. Each candidate must hold an offer of admission to UCL for full-time undergraduate study, beginning no later than September 2018. Applicants of any major or discipline are invited to apply, as long as they can demonstrate proven financial need.

Applicants must also demonstrate that they have broad interests and plan to be actively involved in university life. They should be no older than twenty-five years of age and demonstrate strong extracurricular and academic backgrounds.

Recipients of the scholarship will receive £9,000 per year for three years, so long as they maintain satisfactory academic progress. The award may be used piecemeal or in its entirety to cover fees, while the rest should be paid out as a maintenance award. The scholarship may be pursued along with other financing or scholarship options, including grants, awards, and bursaries, as long as the overall amount does not exceed the cost of fees and living expenses.

Upon application, candidates should list their current outside interests, as well as areas of extracurricular pursuits they might be interested in pursuing as an enrolled students. Details on financial circumstances, as well as other awards received, must also be supplied.

All applicants must apply no later than Friday, July 6. Completed applications and all supporting documents should be submitted to studentfunding@ucl.ac.uk. Successful applicants will be notified of the decision by September 14, 2018.
