Columbia University invites qualified applicants from all cultural, personal, and professional backgrounds to apply for its MBA program. In particular, Columbia’s admissions office seeks hardworking, determined students seeking to build and develop professional relationships.

Students are encouraged to attend an information session or contact the Admissions Office directly for more information about application recommendations. Students must submit their applications online, including transcripts, the application form, letters of recommendation, and GMAT results.

A bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution is required for admission. Students should scan and submit PDF versions of transcripts for each university attended. Official hard copies are required upon admission to the school.

Students must also submit official GMAT or GRE scores. Only the highest scores will be considered as part of the application review but subscores will not be combined. International students whose first language is not English should take the TOEFL, PTE, or IELTS. Scores are only valid for two years. For both the English language proficiency exams as well as the GMAT or GRE scores, students may submit self-reported scores alone, but official copies will be required upon admission to the program.

Applicants must also answer one short question and write three essays. These will address the following questions, among others: “What is your immediate post-MBA professional goal?” and “What are your career goals over the next 3-5 years and what, in your imagination, would be your long-term dream job?”

Finally, students will need to submit two recommendations. One should be from a current supervisor for students who have been working for six months, while the other can be from another professional associate. Students who are successful with their initial applications may be invited to interview with an alumni, either on campus or in the candidates’ general geographic area. A $250 application fee is also required.

Applications and read, received, and decided on a rolling admissions process. Applications are reviewed and decided upon as they are received, but applicants are encouraged to apply sooner rather than later. For entry in the Fall 2018 semester, students should apply no later than April 11, 2018. Students seeking Merit Fellowships should apply by January 5. Questions should be directed to the Admissions Office at apply@gsb.columbia.edu.
