Association of British Neurologists Clinical Research Training Fellowship

Applications are now open for the Association of British Neurologists Clinical Research Training Fellowship program. This program is a three-year research training program in neurological disciplines, resulting in a PhD. This award is granted through the Association as well as funding partners, including the Guardians of the Brain, the Patrick Berthoud Charitable Trust, and the Dunhill Medical Trust.

The Association of British Neurologists has organized clinical research training fellowships since 2009. It provides students who wish the study an aspect of clinical neuroscience in detail the ability to do so for three to four years.

Applicants from all disciplines within neurology are welcome to apply. An additional fellowship is offered in stroke studies, which will allow fellows to address a particular aspect of the cause, prevention, and/or treatment of stroke disease.

Applicants should already hold a UK or Irish specialist training post in Neurology, or be planning to attend training after completion of a PhD. The award finances full salary, as well as an additional annual amount of £10,000 towards PhD fees, travel expenses, and consumables. Salary is not provided if the candidate already has secured salary funding for the next three years.

Applications must be submitted by November 19, 2017. Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed in march 2018, with a final decision to follow. Candidates will be asked to provide a full list of professional accomplishments, including prizes won, positions held, publications, research experience, and other exceptionalities and responsibilities.

Applicants will also be tasked with providing a full and detailed report of the proposed project, including references willing to attest to the strength of the overall task. In addition, this proposal should include a potential budget and the names and personal statements of supervisors willing to support and oversee the execution of this project. Without all of these aforementioned materials, applications will be considered incomplete.
