Groton School

Groton School is continuously seeking talented students who demonstrate exceptional promise. Students who are interested in serving the local community are especially sought after, as are students who will contribute to the schools’ commitment of attracting a student body that is racially, socioeconomically, and geographically diverse. As a result, service-minded students from all backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

The best way to learn more about Groton is to complete an online inquiry form. This should be done before a visit is scheduled, as it will allow each candidate to list his or her specific interests and be connected with a related party at Groton for a tour. Families are invited to visit at any time, with visits including a student-led tour and interview with an admissions counselor. Tours are available throughout the year, with the exception of school holidays as well as between February 1-April 30.

After inquiring and visiting, each student should submit a candidate profile. This profile offers admission candidates a way to give important background information about themselves to numerous schools at a time. This can be completed through the Gateway to Prep Schools. Next, each candidate should also submit the results of the SSAT examination, although the ISEE is an acceptable alternative.

Recommendations may be submitted via the Gateway recommendation system, with online applications due in their entirety no later than January 15th. Applications will include candidate profiles, statements, parent statements, school reports, transcripts, and letters of recommendation from current English and Mathematics teacher. A personal recommendation and special interest recommendation may also be supplied. Each candidate must also submit a test score report, a parent financial statement (if interested in financial aid), and an arts or athletics multimedia project.

Roughly thirty-eight percent of all Gorton students receive some sort of financial aid, and while the school does not offer scholarships based on specific talents or traits, Groton does provide financial aid to families who have demonstrated need. Day tuition starts at $44,050, while boarding tuition is $56,550. Financial aid processes start in October, when each student should access the School and Student Services page and create a Parent Financial Statement. Information should be provided for all parents. Signed copies of 1040, W2, 1099, Schedule C/K-1’s for the prior year, as well as current year W2 forms must be submitted.

All application materials are due January 15th the year prior to the desired year of enrollment. Financial aid applications are due January 31st.
