Science International Scholarships are available for exceptional international students engaged in scientific coursework at the University of Queensland.
The award is offered in the amount of $3,000 AU or $10,000 AU. Applications opened on June 1, 2017 and close January 15, 2018.
To be eligible, applicants must be classified as international students in Australia. They should have unconditional or conditional offers of admission by the University of Queensland. Undergraduate students should have completed senior year of high school and obtained an entry score that equates to a Queensland Tertiary Education rank of 96 or higher. Postgraduate students should have completed an undergraduate degree and obtained a GPA of 6 or higher on a 7 point scale.
Applicants must not have already begun studies at UQ, even if seeking a change of program. They must also not hold another scholarship.
Two different scholarships are available. The Full Degree Scholarship is designed to students who intend to enroll in year one of a University of Queensland Faculty of Science full degree program. These students may receive up to $10,000 AU. The second scholarship is known as the Advanced Standing Scholarship. This is awarded to students enrolling in a University of Queensland Faculty of Science program with advanced standing. This award is eligible for up to $3,000 AU.
For full degree scholarships, international students should be enrolling in year one of a UQ Faculty of Science full degree program. For Advanced Standing Scholarships, students should be international students enrolling in a UQ Faculty of Science program with advanced standing.
Applications will be evaluated based on the candidate’s academic performance as demonstrated by the GPA. They will also be considered based on their potential to contribute to science and their personal statements.
To apply, students should complete an undergraduate or postgraduate application for entry into one of the eligible science programs. They must receive a UQ student ID number and an unconditional offer of admission (or conditional, with conditions met by the deadline).
