The University of Manchester invites qualified and diverse international students to apply for their exceptional undergraduate degree programs. International students, including those from the United Kingdom, must apply for undergraduate courses through the UCAS. The UCAS does charge a minimal application fee, but this process streamlines the application steps for all students.
Each year, students are eligible to apply from September 1, for entry in September of the following year. The final deadline for all applications, regardless of enrollment date, is June 30. International students are encouraged to apply earlier (ideally by January 15) to help secure a spot in the class. Other competitive programs, such as Medicine or Dentistry, are more competitive, so applications should be submitted to that program by October 15.
Each application is carefully considered by the admissions team. Acceptances, if offered, can be confirmed using the UCAS procedures. Examination results are not necessary to do this. Several subject areas allow applications from students interested in deferring their entry by a year.
The university also offers short-term study abroad programs in Manchester. This is a great option for students looking to receive quality education within a shorter timespan. Study abroad programs allow students to spend a short period of time in Manchester and to experience life in a quality overseas university.
Each degree of study will require different application components. However, in general, most programs do require basic English language proficiency. This will vary, but usually arrives in the equivalent of IELTS 6.0-7.0 (or 5.5 for foundation courses). While some schools and programs require that this score has been met before application, most will simply require this before beginning coursework. Other programs may require additional materials, such as previous work experience or submissions of written work with the application or previous study of a particular subject. Again, different requirements may vary by degree program, and also by the student’s country of origin.
