Hosting at the Stanford University Center for Russian, East European, and Eurasian Studies, the Wayne Vucinich Fellowship is designed for self-motivated fellows seeking to pursue independent research in residency. This fellowship is geared toward scholars whose research focuses on historical or contemporary topics in Russia, the Caucasus, East Europe, or Central Asia.
To be eligible, candidates should have received a PhD within the past five years. All must have a degree in hand at the time the residency begins. Scholars who are residents of countries that fall under the purview of the Center will be given preference. Fellows will have access to all Stanford University Libraries and the Hoover Institution Library and Archives. They will also be granted access to one of the most distinguished communities of scholars at Stanford, and will be expected to hold a workshop, seminar, or lecture on his or her independent research.
In return, fellows will receive all international travel, health insurance, and visa expenses. Each candidate will also receive a $12,000 stipend for living expenses and access to a shared work space.
All applications must be received no later than November 1, 2018. The fellowship may be undertaken during any twelve-week period between January 15 and June 15, 2019.
To apply, candidates should submit a Vucinich Fellowship application form, along with a research proposal and letter of application. A complete Curriculum Vitae and writing sample should also be supplied, along with a short proposal for a public lecture or workshop that will ultimately be held at Stanford.
